This is the regularly scheduled prodding for the Underhusen to consider number of seats for next term.

It's probably going to be five.

Probably. Still...

That time of year already...sheesh

I motion the number of seats to be extended to 20.

Let's just scrap restricted seating and do open assembly.

I motion to make it mandatory that every citizen must be part of this open assembly, and that anyone who doesn't speak up at assembly events will have their citizenship removed.

Motion to make the World Assembly our de facto regional legislature.

I motion that we slowly but subtly take over Nationstates and call it Winterstates, and do what Point Breeze said.

I'll second all aforementioned motions.

Not too fussed but I wonder if we'd see any difference with 4 instead of 5 next term.

Consider that there aren't really any hot button issues in Wintreath like there have been in the previous couple of sessions, and also the relatively relaxed (in terms of activity) period I think we'll see until September-ish. I'm not sure we'll see much of an election for the next session anyway, compared to the last couple.

Also, we've had... not much evident legislative activity from certain sitting Skrifa (for whatever reasons) compared to one Citizen who isn't a Skrifa whose activity is very evident in the Citizens' Platform.

That's my instinct, though I realise it's not as though public money is at stake if we want more, so sorry for the ramble. 

@Aaron Specter , if by that one citizen you are referring to me, then I'm always active in the legislative branch for the most part. Even when I'm not in the Storting I am involved (for the most part, I may step back for a bit at times due to personal reasons).

Further with 4 people it becomes a bit odd, because then ties become a thing that we have to might deal with more often...generally the idea of making it less than 5 isn't going to done unless there is a SEVERE activity hit outside of the usual lulls (or if the activity hit is even more severe than 'usual')

Agreed.  With 4 there will always be the worry of the tie, whereas an odd number will always have that tie breaker just in case.  I think 5 is a good neutral number regardless of activity, because 3 is too low to have for the UH, and the obvious one when it comes to 4.

Like I said before I'm not too bothered about it, I just put it out there for discussion. I'm a tad concerned by the reasoning though.

It's not a given that ties will happen with an even number of Skrifa, or that an odd-numbered Underhusen will always give decisive results. Flicking through the archive, the Underhusen happens to overwhelmingly agree unanimously on most legislation. In fact, with 5 members recently, there was a tie (2 for, 2 against, 1 abstention). The next stage was for the law to move on to the Overhusen, which rejected it. The Overhusen seems as good as arbiter as any in situations of a tie, regardless of number of Skrifa.

I now understand that 4 is reserved for "severe" hits on activity though, which is fair enough.

As pointed out recently (I think by Chanku), if there is a tie with regards to UH procedure, it can't pass to the OH, so it's basically just a bust then.

And the recent trend of unanimous votes actually concerns me a bit.
