The discussion version of the very important region-page poll taking place...shall we be more of a cat-loving or a dog-loving region and why?

Dog.  No question.  Dogs are faster, stronger and smarter.  Not to mention they're actually grateful when you feed them... unlike their feline counterparts.  Plus, they were domesticated before cats were.   

Dog. They aren't called mankind's best friend for nothing.

Dogs can help us hunt, help us move around, help us carry stuff, have sweet, bubbly personalities and are always happy to see you.

What do cats do? Laze around, complain and avoid you?

Fuck cats.

I hate animals and would prefer that we stay a human region or, at the least, a sentient and communicating one...

Oh come on Reon...be one with nature and our furry friends.

I, personally am a cat person, I love cats, they are adorable, intelligent and independent.

I love my cat  and I think she likes me back
I am not on the other hand a fan of dogs 
 

I like both to be honest, but if I were forced to choose I'd pick dog. I had a dog for 15 years, and it's amazing how they have their own habits and personalities and preferences, just like people. They really do become part of the family.

Quite amusingly I actually love nature, am one of those anthro loving guys and shit... Just don't like proper animals... In real life I rather prefer the still life... Wanted to be a botanist when I was younger, it was my dream job...

You know what you need? One of those orange cats.

I like both to an extent, but I'd never own a cat.

Huskies are beautiful animals, but I would just feel like a monster for making it live in this heat.

Related: I went to two go-kart races over the weekend with my girlfriend's family, and her neighbor brought along their 4-week old St. Bernard puppy. It was adorable, but I felt so bad for it. It was hot, humid, and incredibly loud!  If you've never been around karts designed for racing, you don't really have an appreciation for how damn noisy they can be, and it was obviously disturbing their poor dog. Not a good place for pets, in my opinion.

Agreed.  For this state in this weather, I'd most likely get a Boxer or Great Dane, since they're both short haired dogs.  However, I know that there's ways to keep a dog cool (outside of fans) on hot summer days, so I wouldn't necessarily be against buying a husky over here if I was well prepared for it.

I'm a dog person all the way! Cats are indecisive, moody and untrainable. Dogs are trainable, loyal, friendly, protective and awesome in every sense of the word. Of course it's no secret that I really want a husky! Given the heat this summer, I'd keep one such dog in the basement where it is bearable.

My parents' cats would disagree with you being non-trainable.  I think they're the same as dogs to where you can train them at an early age...but people usually treat their cats a specific way to which they end up being the way they are.

Just imagine how dogs would be if you treated/trained them similarly to cats.

Dogs are too much work. You have to train them, and that's time out of my busy schedule.

With a cat, you say.. poop in this box and I'll clean it sometimes. In return, the cat cuddles with you, purrs at you, squints at you, does hilarious things. To all appearances, it loves and understands you, which is sometimes all you need to get through the day.

If you feel the need to have a dog coming on, have some kids instead, I always say.
