Hi  I'm Darren from Lincolnshire in England. I joined a day or two ago because I like he sound of a nation sim. I hope I can get to grips with the game and RP principles. Other people seem to be portraying futuristic nations with spaceships. Mine will be more real and less polished, an old NATO throwback with dodgy fashion sense and a near obsolete military kept going by regular paint jobs and bodge tape. Looking forward to getting stuck in.

Welcome to Wintreath!  I think you'll find there are a lot of different nation types represented, from American Civil War to nomadic tribesman to steampunk to spacefaring, as you mentioned.  I hope you enjoy your stay here.  I'll work on getting you assigned a mentor very soon.

The official theme of the region is fantasy with steampunk elements, but you can really do anything you want. Our character RPs have gone from superheros to 1920s America, and there's all kinds of different regions. It's techically even possible for people to create their own themes for the region, if someone wanted to put that much work into it. For now it seems to be enough that people are allowed to do their own thing though...I haven't heard of any problems with different types of nations.

In any case, hope you enjoy the region and stick with us here on the forums!

It's techically even possible for people to create their own themes for the region, if someone wanted to put that much work into it. For now it seems to be enough that people are allowed to do their own thing though...I haven't heard of any problems with different types of nations.

Well met! I must say, it's nice when someone comes in and introduces themselves with their real name. That's what I'm used to from previous communities, but since NS doesn't work quite like that I've gotten used to usernames.

Yes I wasn't sure if folks were expecting that or if it would ruffle the RP atmosphere and expect a responsr from the Velossan Minister of Region Relations...or something. Being new I'm not going to complicate things. At this stage I'm more interested in meeting the players and see what they enjoy most.

In most of the forums, we pretty much just talk as ourselves, the players, so you're good! The exception is in the roleplay area, but that's pretty obvious. I look forward to getting to know you though.
