  • There's a lot of those places around here... Off the top of my head I can think of Card Kingdom, Pheonix Games, Gamma Ray Games, Blue Highway Games, and Dreamstrands.
Additionally most of the indie ice cream places have game nights, in particular Full Tilt which is known for it's arcade games as well.

So not just a British thing but possibly an urban techie thing.

Surprisingly though I can't think of one that caters to just video games, really... Sometimes there's some video games at those places but it's rare. For the most part it's kept to board, tabletop, or card games...

  • I've been waiting to get some time to reply...but thanks for the new edition! :D

As you know, I also tried You Need a Budget and was not quite so taken over with it...while I agree that the philosophy that you're supposed to use with it is nice, that portion can be read up on for free. The actual software...well, as I told you, some Excel spreadsheets could be made to do the same thing for free. I thought $60 is massively overpriced, though it probably helps their budget significantly. :P

Just to offer a contrasting opinion.

  • It's always good to have a contrasting opinion, and yeah, the method works well enough that you don't need the app. I just like the graphs and fancy stuff it has, and the ability for it to auto import and assign everything. It makes it all so much easier when 75% of all my statement entries just sort themselves out on import :P

    Glad you like it!

  • Buuuttt...you could add most of the graphs and fancy stuff in Excel with enough work. It's something that I might take on if I have enough time and want to play around with it...you never know. :P

  • Such a great read! I gotta admit, when I read "Video Game Music Remix" my first thought was "Oh great, some dumbass butchered something great." which is the kinda quality I usually see when I'm looking for video game OSTs. But that place has some great stuff. I quite like it.

The dice thing was pretty cool too. I had an odd pair of dice back in high school that I bought from this awesome store called "Gags n' Gifts" that used to be around. They were a pair of misshapen, deformed dice with admittedly rather sharp edges. Not one side was equal in the least. They were pretty cool though. The paper dice is pretty awesome. I really liked that large wooden one with the bearing inside. I believe I'll have to look into this guy's other videos. Seems pretty fun.

I look forward to the next issue! ^_^

  • Thanks! And yeah, I love OCRemix, it's a really fun site, and I really like that Diablo 2 tune I found on it.

And I'm glad you liked the dice video, I'll pass that back to the guest writer.

Aiming the next edition for early November.

  • I also liked the Diablo 2 tune, but then again I've long-loved the D2 soundtrack, so it was interesting to see someone do something with a track from it. :P

Thanks for the new publication...good stuff. :)
