  • I don't really get the rules around Nazi-ism. As I understand it's against the rules to use the swastika or other Nazi symbols in flags, but it isn't against the rules to refer to your group or region as Nazi.

  • It might be just something against complete censorship, which I think is silly.  Considering the Swastika itself was a harmless symbol which Nazi-ism completely warped and turned into something evil and filthy.

I think they should put a ban on both the name and the symbol, rather than just the symbol.  It's pretty much clear that the swastika will never be seen in the light that it was created in, and I don't think it's fair that people can get away with having the name of the group that tarnished that symbol for their own warped usage.

  • We've come to the conclusion then that there is no artistic or creative value to be gained by role-playing - or interacting with players who are role-playing - as National Socialists?

Well speaking as a Wintrean Ambassador, I dont think that we would even consider interacting with a Nazi group/organization at all. At least I would never think of it, even as a joke.

In the Greek-NaziGermany war, I lost many loved ones. A Nazi soldier tried to kill my grandpa as well. So I support this, since I see no reasoning naming your region as Nazi, and because we all know the horrors that the Nazis brought.

Now as a leader, I would be, more than just glad to drop some bombs over there..

  • I understand your feelings, Harry. And to Pengu and WM, I also regret the inconsistency with banning nazi-related symbols but allowing Nazi names and references. I would prefer swastikas in the Buddhist and Jainist traditions to be acceptable, instead of a 100% ban on all swastikas. That might go a long way in helping restore the proper image of the symbol.

I do agree with this.  It's not the fault of the symbol that those who used it chose to use it for something evil.  However, there are going to be a very rare few nowadays who are even going to see it as anything but a symbol of Nazi Germany, since the origins of the symbol aren't ever actually even taught beyond that.

  • So will anyone be introducing this in the Underhusen or explaining why they don't want it introduced?

  • I mean... As citizens we do have the right to stand for election for any government office for which we qualify... It could be argued that this is in a bit of opposition to that.

  • If I went to a Nazi organization and stood for election there would that count as serving in their leadership?
Technically I would say no, but the argument could be made. I don't know, mostly just idle thoughts... I've few opinions on this piece.

  • It's more than a bit of a stretch to believe that the Fundamental Laws explicitly grants Citizens the right to stand for election to foreign government offices. Not that there are any current laws that forbid it, but obviously the government of Wintreath can't guarantee rights in other regions. :P

I don't believe there are any Nazi regions that have elections, in any case. You know, Fuhrers and all that. :P

  • It's not explicitly stated, but going with the spirit of the document and historical precedent, I don't believe the Fundamental Law was ever supposed to be anything other than the Fundamental Law of Wintreath, not of everywhere.

  • Well, these are our rights as citizens that Wintreath law is not qualified to restrict right? Well it doesn't say election in Wintreath... I had always taken it as guaranteeing that I was free to be in elections in other regions without affecting my citizenship here as well... Not a lot of reason to have it otherwise, really...

  • Hey, it doesn't specifically say Citizens of Wintreath either, so obviously the Fundamental Laws must apply to Citizens of all regions.

Are we seriously going to split hairs to this level of ridiculousness?
