Section I: Ambassador Information

1) Who are you and what region do you represent? I am Eluvataran Outback, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the South Pacific

2) Are you replacing an ambassador from this region? If so, who? I don't believe so, no.

3) Does your region already have relations with us, or are you requesting an embassy as well? There is no current embassy or consulate relationship, and I am requesting one, yes.

1) What made your region decide to pursue relations with Wintreath? Our previous relations and an interest in reaching out more to active regions across NationStates.

2) How do you feel our regions can help each other in the future? Exploring that is the purpose of reopening relations, in my understanding.

3) What is your region's military stance? (defender, raider, imperialist, neutral, etc) The SPSF must, at all times, observe our laws, policies, the charter and our legal and contractual obligations, defend The South Pacific, refrain from conduct abroad which contradicts foreign policy and make an effort to include, welcome and accommodate all citizens as members, regardless of their beliefs. (In other words, we are unaligned).

I'm curious...does this mean that The South Pacific has changed course from its previous policy of not utilizing their consulates/embassies on other regions' forums?

I don't know if we're going back to posting formal update statements, but we do intend to use our consulates and embassies across the NationStates world in general.

If I may:

At this time I haven't decided one way or another on the update policy. Most of what can be reported will be done so by various news outlets long before I or my staff can get something out. What I am looking at however, are ways to utilise these embassies and consulates to better get to know other communities, work with them and open a dialogue that is more personal than a typical copied and pasted update.

As the Jarl of Foreign Affairs during the time when the relations were closed, and the one who restructured/suggested the changes, if no one minds me posting here.

The main thing is that while I was Jarl one of the main things for embassies was being active, and my recommendation was to close forum embassies and keep the embassies in game open, however Wintermoot ended up closing relations entirely.

While I am no longer in charge of Foreign Affairs I must ask if there is any assurance of any form of regular posting(be it once every one or two months or more often).

After Chanku's tenure as Jarl, I did my own review, which is where the decision to close consulates came from, in this case based on The South Pacific's decision to no longer conduct diplomacy in the region (or any non-GCR, non-treaty region). That is why I asked.
