  • ATTENTION
IN ACCORDANCE WITH PUBLIC LAW #2104.11 REASSIGNMENT OF WA OFFICIALS ACT, THIS OFFICE IS NOW OCCUPIED BY THE WINTREAN WORLD ASSEMBLY DELEGATION.  AUTHORIZED PERSONS ARE LISTED BELOW.  ALL OTHER TENANTS MUST VACATE THE OFFICE WITHIN 48 HOURS AFTER THIS POSTING.

Delegate from Point Breeze and Thane of WA Affairs, Dr. Mia Keogh

    Dr. Mia Elizabeth Keogh
    Age: 44
    Birthplace: 4th Ward, Point Breeze
Family: Mr. Liam Keogh and Mrs. Fawn Keogh (Lindsay), parents.

Education: Having been born to one of the most affluent families of one of the most affluent areas of Point Breeze, it is sufficient to say Dr. Keogh had an absolutely shit education until college. Upper-class education was boooring, and she would much rather be playing cornhole and enjoying watery beers with the kids from Ward 7, but apparently Emile Durkheim was more important than that at age 14. After somehow obtaining a bachelors in Writing from Livingston College (Ward 3), Keogh then completed graduate studies at the public University of Point Breeze, where her internship in the Point Breeze Foreign Affairs office consisted of writing humorous responses to 100% serious requests for humanitarian aid and urgent military intervention from allies and treaty signatories. Then-Councilor of Foreign Affairs, William Frick was so impressed with her work that he hired her full time and arranged for the office to pay for the remainder of her tuition so she could go on to finish her doctorate in... actuary science?

Employment: Aside from traveling the world and meeting with various cultures and peoples and the thousands of wasted hours in WA HQ, Dr. Keogh also worked as a cashier and...dancer while in college.

Background: Dr. Keogh was raised in wealth, but was never fond of the lifestyle. Naturally, she was drawn towards the behaviors and activities her parents had forbidden. Two-piece swimsuits and smoking hash under the pier on the 1st Ward coastline was verboten; it was also her favorite activity. The beatniks there obviously had an impact on her future views, and it's the opinion of this writer that they should be given a goddamn Medal of Valor for their work, if they hadn't been run over by an angry conservative on the freeway while escorting their donkey caravans across.  Her early experiences with these counterculture types inspired her desire to study abroad and interact with other cultures and societies.  Eventually, she would make it into a career, rising through the ranks to become delegate to Wintreath, and most recently second-in-command of the regional WA office.

Titles: Dr. Keogh holds many esteemed titles, many of which only exist internally in the PB Foreign Affairs office, such as:
    Humorless Ice Queen
That Skinny Bitch with the Lisp
    and BOHICA

Responsibilities: Dr. Keogh is the official representative of the government of Point Breeze everywhere except on Point Breeze soil. She is the PB Ambassador to the World Assembly.

Staff: Numerous aids, secretaries, and other essential personnel that basically do all the work.  Most prominently, her chief of staff and senior analyst, Mr. Charles Madden, accompanies her to WA HQ for important debates for moral support and a list of buzzwords to start shouting when she senses she's losing an argument.

Welcome to the World Assembly Podium!

Hello Wintreans, and welcome to the World Assembly Podium!  This serves as the center of World Assembly affairs for Wintreath.  What is the WA you ask?  Just click here for the NationStates FAQ or here for the Wintreath guide for a basic overview of the World Assembly and what it means to you.  If you have any other questions, please ask me or your Delegate, Reon (De La Malvarma in NS).  We'll be happy to help.

But, what is this forum for, anyways?  Well I'm glad you asked.  You'll find all the active drafts currently being debated on the WA floor posted here.  This includes drafts from the General Assembly (marked with an exclamation point ) and the Security Council (marked with a lightbulb ).  The Delegate or I will be updating the list regularly, so you'll always have a feed of what's currently going on in the WA.  If we're feeling intellectually sturdy at the time, we might even give some analysis of what we think of the draft.  The main reason we do this, though, is because we want to hear your opinions!  Your input helps the Delegate decide how to cast his vote.  Delegate votes count for every endorsement they've received, so -according to this page- the delegate's vote currently counts for 48 votes!

You'll also find helpful guides here concerning some of the nuances of WA gameplay, such as the categories in the General Assembly and the different types of resolutions in the Security Council.  Stay tuned - these are on the way!

But most importantly, this is the place to expand your knowledge of the WA system and eventually join the fun yourself!  If you have an idea that you think needs attention at an international level, let one of us know and we'll work with you to set up a draft.  You'll see Wintrean proposals marked with the standard post image ().  Thanks for checking out the World Assembly Podium!

Update on the World Assembly Podium Realignment
As part of a broader forum overhaul that occurred on the 31st of July, the World Assembly Podium has been merged into the Citizen's Platform.  I predict the Citizen's Platform will become a center of discussion on regional and governmental affairs.  In recognition of that fact, and noting the activity and interest in the World Assembly Podium, I've decided to take this initiative in a new direction.  It is incredibly difficult to keep the WA Podium up-to-date on all the proposals, drafts, and votes that take place any given week.  Since our Delegate is free to vote on WA proposals any way he desires, there is no inherent need to invite citizen discussion on every General Assembly Proposal and draft on the floor.  Citizen discussion is never a bad thing, but when resources are strained and activity is negligible, it becomes necessary to pursue other options.

Historically, the WA proposals that garnered the most interest in the WA Podium have been Security Council proposals.  Wintreath is entwined in Gameplay, as a region with an active defender military, as a top-50 region (#31 at the time of this post), and as a home to many prominent players in Gameplay.  Gameplay is also a huge part of the Security Council.  As such, the WA Podium will now focus primarily on relevant and controversial Security Council proposals.  My first love was the General Assembly, so I will still feature prominent proposals from that area, but I recognize that the Security Council is more relevant, influential, and interesting to Wintreans.  Thanks for reading this meaningless wall of text, and I hope to develop a greater appreciation and understanding of the World Assembly here in Wintreath.
    -PB, Thane of WA Affairs

  • Thanks folks. I also want to add that anyone can make a topic here to discuss...well, anything WA related. Questions, ideas, debates, whatever. Don't make Reon and I do all the posting here :)

  • So, a few changes, as you can see.  The heart of the WA is debate, of course, and debates are more fun with more colorful and interesting characters debating them.  Thus, further WA discussions here will be conducted primarily in-character through our national WA representatives.  All WA-related posts will be clearly tagged as such, so that you can easily find them (or ignore them, whatever, do what you want).  Anyone is free to add their own representative to the office - just post a short bio here to join the fun!

    Age: 48
    Sex: Male
Family: Orphaned at age 2, raised by local church orphanage in Danville, the dodgiest suburb of Luminera in Laurentus States.

Additional info: Dirk is fiercely conservative, and harbours a deep patriotism for his country and the family values he believes have been stolen from it. Starting his career out in journalism, he quickly became tired of covering politicians and WA dignitaries, and decided to become one at the age of 30. He proceeded to blackmail, intimidate and buy his way to the top, and now serves as Laurentus States' Chief WA Delegate. He's aggressive, cunning and completely ruthless. Few people like him, but even fewer want to risk becoming his enemy.

He takes a hard right view of politics and finances, and has amassed quite a few supporters over the years, despite his alleged corruption. He very much favours military solutions to problems, and has little time for "left-wing hippies and their idiotic idealism."

Question: Could I use a few personalities?
