ISSUE 2Wednesday 8th October 2014The Wintreath GuardianWINTREATH VOTESPOINT BREEZE AND DREXYL NOX TOP THE POLLThis week the citizens of Wintreath went to the polls to elect their representatives to sit in the Underhusen. The important elections were contested and the turnout was relatively decent. Twenty two citizens in the region voted in all, seven of them however standing in the contest themselves. Underhusen incumbent and Thane of World Assembly Affairs Point Breeze won the most support receiving 19 votes. This may come as a slight surprise as Point Breeze was a member of the Underhusen in the last term which presided over a very inactive legislature. Drexyl Nox had a strong showing finishing a close second with 18 votes. Applebania and Hugsim both collected 16 votes with Chanku rounding up the five elected with 13 votes. Govindia just missed out on being elected with three votes less than Chanku with David being well beaten, gaining just six votes. With only seven people standing for the Underhusen and therefore just two people missing out, there was little competition for votes. Breakdown of votes:1. Point Breeze – 19 (elected)2. David – 6 (defeated)Hugsim was the biggest surprise of the election, having only been a member of the region for a few weeks. Finishing in joint third place, Hugsim impressed the citizens of Wintreath with his answers to questions put to his campaign and his performance in the debate between all the candidates. He responded to the announcement of the results, made by His majesty Wintermoot, by saying “Thank you, to all Wintreans that voted for me. I hope to live up to your expectations as a member of the Underhusen.”. Meanwhile there was disappointment for long standing citizen Govindia who just missed out on being elected for the first time. After the result, he had this to say – “Ugh. Congratulations to the winners. To those who voted for me, thank you for your support. God dammit.” Despite an unremarkable election, it certainly passed off without a hitch and now the new Underhusen will hopefully bring forward legislation of interest to the region. The pact aims to ensure mutual defense between the two regions and to increase cultural, military and intelligence cooperation. Wintreath’s participation in the Osiris-Lazarus war, helping to defend Lazarus, as well as attending the Regional Sovereign Conference were catalysts in the forming of the pact. According to his royal majesty the new treaty was agreed to “under my policy of forming strong bilateral relations with other regions with which we share synergies… and we are both interested in a common set of topics as shown in the conference last month. Additionally, we already have had great informal relations with embassies exchanged last year”.The treaty will be debated and voted on by the Underhusen in the coming weeks.
