Where do you, the candidates, stand on the ever contentious issue of a permanent judiciary?
I support one. I believe we have enough people to make it work, and it would provide a proper check on both the legislative and executive branches of government. Plus possible rulings would help streamline our laws and generate possibly more activity in the government, especially if we set up bar exams for approved solicitors.
I'm curious to know...what other regions are the candidates involved in? And what are the candidates' stances on government members who are also Citizens of other region?
Also, to those candidates that hold dual-Citizenship by the OFO, what is your stance on Royal Decree 002, our treaty with Lazarus, and the actions Wintreath has taken in support of Lazarus during the Osiris-Lazarus war?
I'm in TEP and here right now. I don't care if other government members are citizens of other regions, they just have to know they also have commitments here as well.
As for the action Wintreath took, I support it.
Due to this election sometimes being nothing more than a popularity contest, can all of the candidates outline, in detail, legislation they would bring forward if elected?
You are standing for the Underhusen, who's only role is to introduce, debate and vote on legislation.
I will first try and establish a draft template that would clearly show changes to existing legislation any amendments make.
I will also introduce legislation to formally establish a judiciary.
I will also ensure our Riksrad is accountable to the people by requiring them to publish a report of what they have done and what their plan is in the long term. I also believe that at some point, earlier Riksrad discussion should be declassified for public viewing for the people to understand any governmental decisions made in the past.
I will introduce legislation that would establish a proper glossary of Nordic terms so we have an understanding of what the proper term for government areas would be. We still have yet to establish that standard.
These are the ideas I have at the moment.
Mwhahaha Umm, I mean, no. Of course not. I have my reasons for doing what I do, just as everyone does.
Again, in my campaign thread I outlined two specific things I wish to work on, and of course teamwork is always needed and I plan to work with my fellow Skrifas to get 5 laws passed this term, and I have a personal goal of 3.
As you say, it is your decision.
In terms of your other ideas, they might be in the campaign thread, but can you say them here too? It is a debate. Thanks.
Sure! Here is what I said:
I have an idea in my head as to a bill which involves the Riksrad (I can't do that accenty thingy )of I'd say large importance but I need to conduct further research and it may take a while for it to be fully written and good to present.
I also have an idea in changing the judicial process slightly.
David, if you want the people to trust you, you have to be transparent with them. You're answerable to them, and they have a right to know what your plans are. No one here (as far as I am aware) that is campaigning has hidden their plans away. Why the secrecy? People aren't going to steal your plans. It's all documented and explained here.
I must echo others' concerns about secrecy from candidates.
I am very much a proponent of transparency, which is why I believe discussion should take place on the forum more than IRC or Skype regarding Wintreath issues. It's an oversight thing.
To all candidates-
What are some mistakes you have seen previous Underhusen Representatives make?
A followup, what would you have done differently?
The only mistakes, if any, I have seen have been a lack of activity from some. I understand that if you have RL situations you need time away from them, but you should only be part of the government if you have the time and commitment for it. The last campaign for UH I dropped out because other things were going on at the time that prevented me from devoting proper attention to a campaign.
Thank you all for your questions. Anyone else?
