  • Are you aware that the Overhusen is appointed by the Monarch himself instead of through an election?

Yes, but I don't see how that is relevant.

  • I joined Wintreath on Sept. 17, the day before you. I have also read the laws of the Wintreath, but I don't feel I have quite the grasp of them well enough to stand for election right off the bat. I have a general understanding of how the government here works, but I do not pretend to know it's inner workings (how the Civil Service works, the military, general operations of the Storting, etc.). From my perspective, I know that I, personally, am unqualified to run for election at present. As a fellow newbie, do you feel you have the necessary qualifications to run for office so soon? What are those qualifications? What are the advantages to having a new person as a member of the legislature?
I don't have any qualifications per se, except for being very interested in politics, but I do think that having new members in the UH might give new perspectives on the region and the legislation, which old members might not have after being in it for so long.

Fresh perspectives can be good. And I appreciate your honesty. I'm just trying to get a perspective between both of our short times here. I know that I, myself, shouldn't run, but I hope I didn't imply that you shouldn't either.

  • You have stated that "transparency is important for functioning democracies" but Wintreath is an absolute monarchy and the only people who get elected are members of the Underhusen.

And his idea is to make the elected Underhusen more transparent. What is the issue?

There is no issue with making the Underhusen more transparent. I merely feel that the elected Underhusen should not be compared with the appointed Overhusen in the same way.

  • I honestly kept reading your name as Hugism and I kept thinking of hugging orgies. But that's me :P Good luck my friend.
You're not the first person to misread my name, but I think that it's a language thing. Native English-speakers almost always misread it, but Germans and Nordics manages to read it correctly almost every time.

First off this HIGHLY conerns me, due to the fact that the Overhusen's approval doesn't need to exist. It's appointed, in fact only the Underhusen is elected. So it is highly relevant.

Also technically speaking any regulation of the forums, other than having an amendment internal procedure of the Underhusen(which the Overhusen would have to mirror themselves), as I doubt wintermoot will allow the fundamental laws to be amended to allow the storting to run the forums in any way, short of their own procedures.

How would it be running the forums? It's just putting an extra task on the speaker, which he can choose to do in whatever way he wants, as long as it is in accordance with the laws. The speaker may do it in a thread, he may put it in a google spreadsheet, or in another way I didn't cover here.

You see it could be seen as running the forums per Article VI, Section 5 of the Fundamental Laws. It could also be seen as an infringement on the Rights of a person if they are required to post it, in Article V, Section 1.

My idea is that the task of organising this would fall on the speaker, and he would have to do it in a structured way and to have it easily accessible. I wouldn't force anyone to post anything on the forums, the speaker would just have to keep it easily accessible in some way, be it via a spreadsheet or a forum post, I don't care. The easiest way to keep something easily accessible is of course to have it in a post, but it's not necessary.

Can't you take the same argument against other laws that says what the speaker must do, for example open vote-threads and so on? The speaker knows, and accepts what he has to do under the laws of Wintreath when he steps up for the role as speaker of the Underhusen. It would include things such as organising this.

Although I believe it mainly depends on how literal we take things.
