  • Hello!

Most of you probably don't know me becasue I'm so new here, unless you're in the IRC-channel, where I hang out most of the time.
(Everyone should go there, it's great! We have cookies!)

I will be glad to answer any questions that may arise.

What I will do if I'm elected:
I will try to increase the transparency in both chambers of the Storting, with easily accessible data about how the representatives of the chambers voted in the different proposals. It could be a google spreadsheet, or a forum thread or anything else that makes the data easily available.
I believe that it would make it easier for citizens to see how all representatives voted in the issues that they feel are important, so that they have an easier time voting for someone that better represents them in the next election.
Yes, all vote-threads are in the archives, but it's hard to get a good overview of an individual candidate from 5-10 different threads.

  • Considering you are so new to the region, do you not think it is too soon for you to be trying to get elected to the legislature?

I don't think so, no. Personally, I don't see a difference between new players and old players as long as their intentions are good.
Sure, you might want to make sure that the person that is running for office isn't going to give up on NS or the region half-way through the term, since you wouldn't want a practically empty spot in an already small (For this term) 5-seat Underhusen, but I don't have any plans to quit so that isn't an issue when it comes to me. Well being so new, do you feel you understand the laws of Wintreath and what you can improve on by serving in the legislature?

Do you feel that your choice of words, which I've taken the liberty of bolding, shows a disconnect or perhaps a lack of knowledge of Wintreath?

Concerns arise not only from an activity standpoint, but also from an understanding of the region as a whole and what meshes well within it.

I have read through the laws, and a couple of old debates from the Underhusen and I do feel like I have a pretty good grasp on how the legislative process works, yes.

There might be a good argument for why the votes of the OH aren't publicly, but I can't come up with it. I would be grateful if someone could tell me why.

I said that becasue I've seen members of legislative communities disappear in the middle of a term in other regions. Before I chose Wintreath, I looked through a couple of other regions where just that happened, which discouraged me from participate there.
Trying to learn the Wintrean culture will most likely be my biggest hurdle in my first couple of weeks here, but I will try my hardest to overcome the hurdles and power on.

  • Having a pinned topic that gives the voting history on every bill of the members of the Underhusen, which is I believe what you are advocating, is a really good idea in my view.

    Good luck!

First off, you do realize that the Underhusen size isn't actually very small, it's always been 5. In fact it's not small at all. I mirror Amalya's Concerns, and your statement doesn't particularly, at least for me, help quell the concerns. While you are new here, and I don't necessarily want to make things too hard on you, while most newbies have at least been here a month before running, It seems you have only been here for a few days.

Also while you did state you have read through the archives(which I do agree needs better organization), and have read the laws your understanding doesn't seem to be very good, which is concerning, mainly your lack of understanding of the Fundamental Laws.
    See you later space cowboy.

I for some reason felt like the UH was bigger in the past, but it wasn't, and I see that now.
I will put a bit more time into reading the constitution if I actually get elected, aswell as re-reading it tomorrow when I have time.

I see that you neglected to answer the question I asked, interesting.

I noticed in your citizenship application, dated September 18th that you indicated you wished to become more in tune with the community before you joined the civil service. Given that the civil service is often a good starting point for political life in Wintreath, do you think it appropriate to spurn interest in it, citing the reason you did, and then five days later announce you are running for a major role in the government?

  • I joined Wintreath on Sept. 17, the day before you. I have also read the laws of the Wintreath, but I don't feel I have quite the grasp of them well enough to stand for election right off the bat. I have a general understanding of how the government here works, but I do not pretend to know it's inner workings (how the Civil Service works, the military, general operations of the Storting, etc.). From my perspective, I know that I, personally, am unqualified to run for election at present. As a fellow newbie, do you feel you have the necessary qualifications to run for office so soon? What are those qualifications? What are the advantages to having a new person as a member of the legislature?

  • I think a few of you are being a bit unfair on Hugism to be honest. Yes he is new, something I touched on in my questions without being rude like some of you have. But he has a good idea for legislation in terms of showing the voting history of the UH members as a pinned post or thread, which would be a fine addition.

Don't be harsher on this candidate than others.

Hugism, well done on putting yourself forward and you answered my questions with more effort than a few other candidates have.

Amalya, I wouldn't describe being in the Underhusen as role in government at all, never mind a major one.

  • Hugsim's response to condescension is sufficient proof that he is capable of remaining professional even if things start to get emotional. For that, I applaud him.

Anyway, Hugsim, if you would, name one flaw that can be found in our laws and state how you would correct it.
