In an event similar to the Wintreath Writing contest, I bring you the Wintreath Poetry Contest.

The theme for the month of August is Wintreath. Write a poem inspired by our wonderful region, draw your inspiration from the people, the places, or the weather. Create a poem that captures the essence of Wintreath.

In keeping with unbiased voting, submissions should be sent to me via PM, and I will post them here for voting.

The winner will receive the title of Wintreath Poet Laureate, August 2014. And a banner I am working on for their signature.

Second day in, already received one submission! Keep them coming guys!

Almost half way through guys, gals, and cats! I'd love to see some more submissions from the community!

Wintreath has no Poet Laureate for the month of August, as the only submission received was submitted from within this ministry.
This competition will be taking a one month hiatus while I attempt to find a way to increase the participation from citizens.

I'm curious to find out just for myself whether the issue is that people weren't aware of the contest or people weren't interested. People should post their thoughts here, cause we can take steps to fix either.

I have to admit that I am aware of the contest but I did not participate in this because I am afraid I will not be able to produce a proper poem.

I wasn't aware. My fault Plus I don't do well when given standards. I have to be able to let my mind roam.

I don't believe that there has, but Pengu would be the one to bring it to life if there's any further interest.

Terribly sorry if I have commuted a faux pas by grave digging this thread, but as a 10 time winner of our own Poet Laureate competition I'm somewhat interested in meeting and reading the works of fellow bards.

Not at all...if someone's interested in something on the forum, they should certainly bring it up. For all we know it could be the start of something new.

Edit: I just realized how my last message could be read...sorry about that. I didn't mean to imply that someone else couldn't bring it up, lol.

I am entirely in favor of each region having their own Poet Laureate. I even got slaughtered on the NS forums for suggesting a game-wide Poet Laureate. But I also favor open competitions because I realize that not too many people are interested in writing poetry. I've run unopposed several times back home. I've also won outright or tied for first in a couple inter-regional contests so I do enjoy those as well.

That sounds wonderful! I fiddled around with poetry when I was a teen, but creative endeavors have never been my strong point, I'm afraid.

I'm all for bringing poetry to Wintreath.  While not the most poetry savy person myself, I know there are those on here that may be.
