This is the OOC thread.

It is 25 March, 1929. One day after Benito Mussolini secured another victory as the leader of the sole legal party. Italy is a dark place. His unrelenting thirst for control of his citizens shows no sign of slowing down. The madness has everyone seeking a better life elsewhere.

Being from the industrial part of Italy, the US of A is a very tempting place for your family. The images of the hustle and bustle and personal freedoms that reach you through the grapevine are constantly playing on your mind. Sometime over the next few months your family decides.

You spend the next few months getting everything together for the journey, saving what money you can. Finally, on the 1st of October, you set out for the land of a better tomorrow.

September 15th, you arrive to chase the American dream. Once you set foot on American soil, you head to the automotive industry mecca that is Detroit.

That dream turns into a nightmare rather quickly. The stock market crashes, every working member of your family has been laid off, and the bills are piling up. This is America though, anything can happen.

This roleplay is gritty, dark, and realistic. There may be elements of abuse, sexual misconduct, and other violence. You have been warned.

Name: Ignazio Prospero
Age: 19
Relation in the family: Son
Character back-story: Ignazio has a dark olive skin tone, amber, golden eyes, short, jet black hair,and a tight, well defined musculature standing at 6'00''. He has fiery personality, independent, virile, a bit vain, has strong opinions, can be quite stubborn, is hedonistic, can be quite affectionate, and has a warm, rich voice. In Italy, he worked as an apprentice baker in a bakery, at least when he wasn't wooing the local denizens, causing problems with the local authorities, or singing with his cousin Matteo, a passion of his.
American Dream: To be a successful singer

Name: Aldo Prospero
Age: 24
Relation in the family: Cousin
Character backstory: Back in Italy, Aldo was a petty thug that extorted money from the local merchants. He has never been arrested and is loyal to his family.
American Dream: To make a lot of money

Name: Tomàs Prospero
Age: 16
Relation: Son
Backstory: Tomàs is 5'6" with black hair and brown eyes. Intellectually gifted, Tomàs only attended school for 2 years until he had to start helping the family at home.
American Dream: Graduate from College, get laid, make money.

Here's mine:

Name: Agatha Prospero
Age: 35
Relation in the family: Aunt (mother's sister)
Character backstory: Agatha has stunning green eyes, and shoulder length, wavy, black hair. She has several scars on her cheeks, and forehead from childhood abuse and crossing the drug kingpin. She is neither skinny, nor plump. Agatha has a sort of lost puppy cuteness to her, even at 35.

Growing up as the middle child in the family meant Agatha was often overlooked. Nobody noticed her slow withdrawal from social interactions, nobody noticed her not so slow descent into a life of crime. By the time she was 12, she was the perfect drug mule and prostitute. As all of her siblings were settling down in life, getting married and having kids, Agatha was still running around with a rough crowd. One day, she in desperate need of a high, she used the opiates she was supposed to traffic. The kingpin didn't take too kindly to that, and had her beaten and left for dead. Luckily one of her sisters found her and took her in. With the support of her sister, she finally got clean, got a nice job as a book keeper, and began to rebuild her life. Of course, she was skimming money from the businesses she did work for to help her get ahead.

When the family moved to America Agatha had her name changed to Prospero for sake of ease, and to fit in better.
American Dream: Marry a rich American

Name: Antonio "Toni" Prospero
Age: 30
Relation in the family: Uncle (Father's Brother)
Character backstory: Antonio Prospero is taller than most Prospero's on his father's side (6'3"); he has a sleek muscular frame (160lbs) and dark features (with olive skin, dark hair, and amber-green eyes). Antonio is loyal to his family and those of Italian descent, with a cold and calculating heart that measures a person's worth emotionally.
Antonio tends to be on the quieter side but when he speaks most often than not others listen. In Italy Antonio worked alongside his cousins in the industrial sector manufacturing motors. When the majority of his family announced their desire to go to the US of A Antonio saw it as an obligation to keep his family safe while in a foreign land. At least that is what he told friends of the family, Antonio's real intention for going to the US of A was to avoid a marriage with a British woman he had given child to on her holiday. Antonio had no desire to marry into a British family, but gave half of what he saved for the trip to the US of A to the woman to take care of the child and to be quiet about who the boy's real father was. Antonio was quick to find work in a factory in Detroit but was laid off soon after an incident with an American who was disgruntled with Antonio's "kind" being allowed to work alongside him. Antonio was never in trouble with the law in Italy, but has ran across trouble more than once when sticking up for his family and fellow Italians.

Name: Last name is Prospero - Matteo

Age: 17

Relation in the family: (father, daughter, etc.) Cousin

Character backstory: (a few sentences about your character and what they did back in Italy)
Tall and lanky, Matteo has black hair and green eyes. He has a vivid scar from the corner of his left eye downward to underneath his chin from abuse at the hands of his own father (cut by a broken wine bottle) before being taken in by his uncle and family. He is witty and loves to sing, and does so on a regular basis with his cousin Ignazio. He also plays the mandolin. He worked as an errand boy in a textile factory before leaving for America.

American Dream: (what your character's biggest goal is) Matteo wants nothing more than to be a successful singer.

I'm actually curious...why hasn't anyone chose the mother or father? Will those be NPCs?

Depending on what you choose, they very well may end up being NPCs. I went with the aunt because I've got big plans in store.
