Well, sure, but I'm saying there should be a minimum # of Langmen assigned per trial. Three is a good number, but I'd like to have alternates available immediately. Especially since this would make it easier to drop out of a case, I feel that having a backup or two is a good move.
As specified in the Act, if a judge were to drop out or be removed due to inactivity, another would be selected out of the juror pool utilizing the same method, which would keep it at three people in practice. Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're suggesting?
I feel special <3
Oh you.
I still disagree, though.
It makes little sense to me to require a person to have served, or to serve, in the Storting in order to either be a juror or a Lagmen.
Wintreath isn't a political region, so I'm not really concerned with politics...good, bad, or ugly. I'm concerned about our trials being overseen by people who are experienced in Wintrean law. Maybe this is just an area where we will have to agree to disagree, but I feel it's very important to ensure that our jurors are qualified.
And 'random' just doesn't equate with good politics.
Where's the oversight in a 'random' selection?
I'm not sure how it equates to politics, but I think random does equate with good fairness, because it removes bias in the selection of judges for individual trials, along with the proposed rules preventing people who are a party to the case from judging over it. Opportunities for oversight are provided when applicants to the Lagmand Rådet are approved by the Storting and Monarch, and also through the ability for the Storting and Monarch to remove someone from it. Remember that the process for entering the Lagmand Rådet and a Lagmand being selected for an individual case are two different things.
Will the public have access to the logs if we were to elect to use Zaphyr?
It would be done in #wintreath, so yes.
