More of a curiosity than anything...the article notes that many younger people are growing a bone spur on the back of their skulls that resembles the a small horn, and it's thought that posture related to cell phone use is the culprit. The article does say that if you have this you can probably feel it just above the neck...I don't have it (but the PC is my technology of choice anyways), but I'd be curious to know if anyone here does.

  • The back of my skull is actually flat owing to an accident when I was a child, so no, no bone spur for me. Guess I have to go to Vietnam after all.

  • I'm not really sure if I have it - I've tried feeling the back of my skull and I can feel a protrusion, but it's not nearly as big as the article and the X-ray scan suggest. All of this is definitely quite weird and freaky, though.

The difficulty with this sort of clickbait-y approach of this article is that it doesn't really seem to tell people that there is in fact a normal protrusion at the back of the skull, the inion.  I think that the point of the research itself, however, is that there seems to be a protrusion which can develop beyond the normal level that normally occurs, hence why "An outgrowth was only factored into their research if it measured 10 millimeters, or about two-fifths of an inch."
So everyone does have the inion to a degree, the possibly concerning thing, however, is the fact that the spurs seem to be forming on the inion or in that general vicinity among younger people.  It's a hard thing to judge really.  I'm not an orthopedist though, so I certainly am not as familiar with skeletal anatomy as I could be.  And yeah I'm definitely a PC guy myself as well :P

  • Was looking through the news recently and saw something on this topic which basically reiterates the above sentiment but in a much more clear way:

  • So much for people getting horny? :P

I tend to post articles that I read and think are interesting...I think it'd be cool if we were growing new features. Wouldn't it be cool if we were slowly growing horns out the back of our heads?

What's the point in growing horns if you can't headbutt people? Sure, some enterprising people might pull it off, but back horns are otherwise useless.

I suppose if they grow large enough they could work as drink holders or something.
