Hello everybody, if you're not one of the couple of chaps who wanders into the halls of art and writing I'm Fortis, a friend of Crushita and a gigantic nerd and aspiring writer who has spent almost a year now building a fictional universe, but I'm not just on this forum for my writing, though my post record does not yet really reflect this. BUT! That's why I'm here now to interact and get to know a few of you a bit more.

So I'll leave it open, ask me anything.

What's the reasoning behind your name?

What's the most far-fetched goal you have?

What is your favourite colour?

I know right? It gets a bit dark, damp and decrepit down there xD

My name is Latin, it means mighty writer, well technically it means strong written but that was my own fuck up and I like the name. 

My most far fetched goal, well most would say it's my goal to surpass Tolkien, but I would say my most far fetched goal is to become a billionaire on my own with just my writing 

My favourite colour is blue, specifically indigo blue.

Had to read that about 3 times, I thought you were saying your real name was literally "Latin". Wouldn't be the strangest name I've ever heard, and apparently "English" is a last name already.

Do you like to insert a proxy for yourself into your fantasy world(s)?

Since you mentioned writing and Tolkein... do any work on creating a fictional language?

What do you think about dragons?

Ha, yeah sometimes my choice of wording can confuse people, never heard Latin as a name for a person, I have heard of English though.

Funny you should ask, technically yes I am a character in everything I write, however I'm never even as important as a side character and usually I make sure my proxy dies, it's a symbolic thing about not letting myself corrupt a story I don't want to be about me. Sometimes though I just make movie director like cameos.

When it comes to world building, between my friend and I we've done just about everything but create a fictional language. I might create a conlang at some point in the future but I don't have the skill to do anything very good as of yet.

Ahhh, the age old question "What about dragons?" It is a philosophical question of the highest order. Well I personally think they're awesome, and have them in my own world. I typically prefer the more eastern portrayal of them as ancient and wise beings, but I'm also of the opinion that anyone can be a monster and as such some of the dragons in my world are more akin to the beasts of your typical western medieval portrayal.

What's your opinion of the Dothraki language (since we're on the topic of constructed languages)?

Well, it's not my favourite conlang, that title goes to the most meta conlang in fiction Khuzdul, Baruk Khazad!

But all in all, both Valaryian and Dothraki are well put together conlangs since they have a good main creator who really knows his stuff, that on top of the fact that they have some pretty big conlangs that came previously that they can take after in how to expand it well.
