To be fair, many of those joke resolutions don't do much, other than state something is something.

Isn't the amended version of this essentially that?  It's saying "if you choose to, you can praise the holy tuber before you present legislation."

Which is basically adding nothing in the end, so it holds the same amount of weight as your Alterra Paragon act.

My main objections are about the wording itself really.

But in the end, much like yours, its pointless and silly to voice "wording" issues on an act that doesn't really even seek to change anything.

If this was actually changing something, it'd be important.  Since it's not (since there's no law stating that you can't do this already), the wording is only important to you.

Do you have any objections to the revision or have you simply not yet accepted the Grace and Love of the Great Spud? 

Would it not make sense to first pass a bill naming the Potatoe Faith to be the official religion of Wintreath? Or had we decided against that at one point?

Not necessarily. For example, even though the US lacks an official religion many local councils and legislatures (I think) have a prayer at the start, which is typically a Christian in nature.

In any case, for things like 'official religions' that really is less of a Storting thing, and more of a Culture thing, in my opinion.

Eh, Chanku does have a point here. This non-binding, humorous proposal would probably be out-of-place in the Procedural Rules (hence why I have presented a modified version of it to the Underhusen as a Resolution).

The only objections I have are those that are personal, and nothing more.

I think you're the one in need of a spelling lesson. The correct and absolutely accurate form is "potatoe."

Eh, his criticisms were legitimate and concerning.

I know that this has been tabled, but I just wanted to give my thoughts...I'm unsure about the whole idea of religious laws in the region, although I agree with @Chanku that nobody can be compelled to say something. On one hand, our laws have always been on the utilitarian side, or at least they've had some kind of effect on something or someone, but on the other hand there's not much for the Storting to legislate as it is.

Awhile back @Pengu mentioned the idea of the Storting being able to take up roleplay issues, and this seems like something that would fall in that category...my suspecion is that this is what will happen naturally as we move away from NS and the forum government becomes its own thing...I mean, who knows, maybe someday the entire Wintreath lore, government, etc will end up wrapped with The Wonderful World of Wintreath as a giant political roleplay. That day isn't today, but I think the broad question of whether the government can/should delve into RP legislation is worth considering again.
