Autumn is kicking off, so everything is being pounded by rain. Yaaaay, rain. Other than that, things are fairly fine.

You must be in the other hemisphere where Christmas is in the summer and it's autumn there while it's spring here.

I've always wondered: what Christmas songs do you have there? All the Christmas songs here are based on the fact that it's cold. Do you have songs like "I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas" and "Let it Rain, Let it Rain, Let it Rain?"

We tend to sing the standard "Yay, it's Christmas guys," while having a chuckle as we have barbecues and feel sympathy for the poor guys in heavy Santa outfits. Poor dears.

In terms of altered songs, there's the "Pukeko in a Ponga tree," based off of "The 12 Days of Christmas." Honestly, there are lots of "Whee, let's change a really old tune to be all about the Summer" songs. They're not the standard though. Lots of them aren't any good. Generally the standard songs are so ingrained that trying to "summer-ise" them sounds more painful than funny. However, Air New Zealand made a pretty sweet recreation of "Winter Wonderland" that wasn't painful. They even made a skit lampshading how painful it can get. =D

For purely NZ songs, we have "Pōhutukawa Tree," which is a kids tune boasting about how the Pōhutukawa is better than the standard tree. There's also the newly made "Christmas in New Zealand" made last year, which seems to hit the right tone.

I don't know any songs that are shared across the southern hemisphere though. =/ Ah well. We still sing and listen to "Jingle Bells," and so on as standard, we just make fun of ourselves while doing so.

Fun fact: "White Christmas" is actually about a Californian longing for a snowy winter. The initial verse that sets that up is usually cut out though.

What parts were too Kiwi for you? I've barely any frame of reference for what stuff is Kiwi dialect and what's the norm elsewhere, so I'm a bit curious.

Oh man, that's really weird to think. I know that jandals are an iffy term, but you overseas lot don't use arvo or rellies? O.o How do you casually talk about the afternoon or your relatives?!

So with prickles - They're any plant hidden among grass that stabs bare feet. They "prick" you, and they suck. The common one is the "Onehunga weed." When you step on them, they leave little barbs in your feet and you have to stop to get them out. Of course, you might end up trapped in a large patch of them by mistake. Then while you're trying to get them out of your foot, you fall over and end up with prickles in your arms and hands... I'm not talking from experience or anything. Nope.

I didn't realize that the existence of all 118 elements had been confirmed and all of them have official names. This happened in December and I didn't even realize! . I thought I would know when it happened. @taulover did you know this?

There is a limit at some point because the greater atomic numbered elements are more unstable and around 154 or 155 is the limit before you can't add any more protons. (At least, I saw that was the limit from a source that may or may not be credible)

I just noticed I'm at over 1000 posts! And when I noticed this, I was at 1008, and if you put the decimal in the right place (1.008), it's the atomic mass of hydrogen!

All elements are hypothetical until they have been discovered or synthesized... Unless you were referring to the fact that they've already been made years ago, just not confirmed by IUPAC/IUPAP?
