  1.1 This shall be titled the Minor Edits Act
2. Amendments
  2.1 Section 8 of Article I in the Fundamental Laws shall be changed to read as follows:

8. The Overhusen shall vote to pass or veto the legislation upon passage by the Underhusen. The Overhusen shall not amend legislation except to make spelling and grammar corrections. They must also state what they have changed in the legislation. They may not modify the structure of any piece legislation.

Peers may vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain.

Seriously, would it kill the Underhusen to have one person do a spelling and grammar check?

Unfortunately, deeming something as a typo and changing it slightly can mean a lot... Changing just one word in a law can entirely change it's meaning and the Overhusen has no interest in trying to mutter through what the Underhusen was TRYING to mean. It's dangerous and in no way helpful... And seriously, it's just not that hard to toss it into word or something and get a spell check.

I was conflicted about this piece of legislation myself...it would be nice to fix spelling and grammar mistakes, but at the same time it just felt like the Underhusen was trying to pass over its responsibilities to the Overhusen. The main responsibility of the Underhusen is to vigorously scrutinize pieces of legislation before sending it to the Overhusen, and that includes concepts as well as spelling and grammar. While it's only human that mistakes will be missed once in awhile, it happens with such regularity in the Underhusen that it's concerning...obviously to them as much as us.

I have noticed things have been better vetted in the past few weeks, so either way I hope this will finally be a problem of the past soon.
