You could put some of the Info Data information there, like who is currently online? I'm not sure how useful that would be (or how doable), but it's a reason to check it.

I don't think I ever said the sidebar wasn't useful, I think I said that it's unlikely people are checking it every time they refresh the front page because the information on it doesn't change often.

And really, it still hasn't...birthdays will update once a day, and the MC server doesn't have all that many people on it lol

Many mobile devices/browsers by default scale websites to a higher resolution in an attempt to make the whole site appear on the browser without having to scroll horizontally. The mobile version of the site forces the browser to use the actual resolution of the device with no scaling, while the option to force the desktop version removes that restriction so that the resolution scales beyond what would trigger the sidebar to move to the top.

My guess is that your device/browser doesn't do this and actually uses its native resolution by default, which would still trigger the mobile site. Perhaps it's an older device?

Out of curiosity, go to this website and post back the numbers for everything related to width: http://ryanve.com/lab/dimensions/

All of the width ones are 360 except for client width and offset width,  which are both 346

It might just be my stupid old Samsung phone

I'm sure some do, but most websites that I'm aware of use width through CSS @media queries. Ultimately, they aren't so much mobile websites as they are low-resolution websites...it's simply that mobile devices make the most use of them.

I'm fairly certain that most mobile websites, or professional ones at least, use user agents. Try getting a user agent switcher and look at Google, Wikipedia, reddit, news sites, etc. Even Wintreath has those Tapatalk popups.

Perhaps in cases where they have dedicated mobile sites that are entirely separate from their main sites, yes, but I don't think that's really necessary in this case. At some point, no matter what device you are on, the sidebar just isn't going to be functional off to the side.

The list isn't necessarily based just on re/found date...there are several variables that can bump a nation to the top of the list, with nation creation being one of them. The list is actually ordered be relevant activity date/time.

That being said, according to my research, most nations find their final destinations within an hour of being created. Nations created afterwards are unlikely to be receptive to recruitment except in a few potential circumstances, so it's not worth burning out recruiters to recruit to them. I limited my own recruitment to nations from the last hour for a few months after coming to that conclusion, and didn't notice much difference in success from when I was going back several hours before.

If you feel like I've missed an aspect of the issue or I'm wrong somewhere though, we can definitely reopen the issue and talk it out.
