  • This is an AI-generated story based on the prompts "Generate a story where Margaret Thatcher rises from the grave" and then "Generate a story about what happens after that" (I also named the story and the volumes). I was impressed at how cohesive the story was, the direction the AI took it, and I honestly laughed until I cried at the thought of an undead Margaret Thatcher chasing down villagers in the middle of the night, lol.

So I've posted it here for your entertainment/amusement. Pictures courtesy of Midjourney, which is an AI image generator.

Volume I, Chapter I: The Lady's Not Returning?
It was a dark and stormy night in the small English village of Finchley, and all was quiet as the residents slept. But in the graveyard on the edge of town, something was stirring. Suddenly, the ground began to shake and the air was filled with an eerie, unearthly moan.

As the villagers looked on in horror, a figure emerged from the grave. It was Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, risen from the dead. Her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and her skin was pale and cold.

The villagers tried to run, but Thatcher was too fast. She chased them through the streets, her laughter echoing through the night. No one was safe from her wrath, and soon the entire village was in chaos.

But Thatcher was not content to simply haunt the village. She had bigger plans. She wanted to take back her place at the head of the country, and she would stop at nothing to achieve it. She summoned an army of the undead, and together they marched on London.

The city was defenseless against Thatcher's undead horde, and soon she had taken control. She declared herself the ruler of the United Kingdom once more, and the people had no choice but to bow to her will.

And so, Margaret Thatcher rose from the grave to reclaim her place at the top of the political world, and the people of the United Kingdom lived in fear of her undead wrath for all eternity?
Volume I, Chapter 2: The Speech from 10 Downing Street

As the undead ruler of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher stood atop the steps of 10 Downing Street, her eyes blazing with an otherworldly light. She had risen from the grave to reclaim her place at the head of the country, and she would stop at nothing to maintain her grip on power.

"My dear people," Thatcher began, her voice cold and echoing through the streets of London. "You have all witnessed my resurrection, and you know now that I am not like the rest of you. I am something more, something beyond human. I am eternal, and I will rule this country for all time."

There was a murmur of fear and dismay among the crowd, but Thatcher was undaunted. She raised her hand and the crowd fell silent.

"I know that many of you are afraid," she continued. "You fear my power, and you fear the undead army that I have summoned to serve me. But let me assure you, there is nothing to fear. I am not here to harm you. I am here to lead you, to guide you, to bring prosperity and stability to this great nation."

"But," Thatcher added, her voice growing darker, "there are those who would stand in my way. There are those who would seek to undermine my rule and challenge my authority. To them, I say this: I will not tolerate dissent. I will not tolerate rebellion. Anyone who stands against me will be dealt with harshly, and they will be made to understand the true power of the undead."

The crowd gasped as Thatcher's words sank in. They knew now that there was no hope of resistance, no hope of overthrowing the undead dictator. They were doomed to live in fear of Thatcher's wrath for all eternity.
Volume I, Chapter 3: Are You Ready for a Cabinet Meeting?
The undead Margaret Thatcher is in the middle of a meeting with her Cabinet when she is suddenly interrupted by a loud noise from outside. She looks up, her eyes narrowed, as the sound of gunshots fills the room.

"Get down!" she shouts, her voice sharp and commanding. "Everyone get down!"

The ministers around the table scatter, diving for cover as the gunfire continues. Margaret Thatcher remains seated, her eyes fixed on the door as she waits for the attackers to enter.

Suddenly, the door bursts open and a group of heavily armed men burst into the room, their weapons raised. Margaret Thatcher stands up, her eyes blazing with determination as she faces them down.

"You will not succeed," she says, her voice cold and menacing. "I will not be taken down easily."

The attackers hesitate, their eyes narrowed as they take in the sight of the undead Prime Minister standing tall and unafraid in the face of their assault. They are clearly not prepared for such resistance, and for a moment, they seem unsure of what to do.

As they hesitate, a team of security guards enters the room, their weapons drawn. The attackers turn to face them, but it is too late. The guards open fire, taking out the attackers one by one.

As the gunfire dies down, Margaret Thatcher stands tall, her eyes fixed on the bodies of the attackers lying on the floor. She has narrowly avoided assassination once again, thanks to the quick actions of her security team.

The undead Margaret Thatcher stands at the head of the Cabinet table, her eyes blazing with anger as she addresses her ministers. The room is tense and quiet, the ministers all aware of the gravity of the situation.

"This is unacceptable," Margaret Thatcher says, her voice cold and sharp. "How could you have allowed this to happen? How could you have left me vulnerable to an attack like this?"

The ministers shift uneasily in their seats, their eyes downcast. They know that they are in trouble, and they are all well aware of the consequences of failing to protect the Prime Minister.

"We are sorry, Prime Minister," one minister says, his voice shaking slightly. "We did everything we could to protect you. We increased security at Downing Street, and we alerted the police and the intelligence agencies to any potential threats."

Margaret Thatcher snorts in disgust. "Your efforts were clearly not enough," she says, her voice dripping with contempt. "I will not tolerate any further failures in this regard. I expect better from my Cabinet."

The ministers exchange uneasy glances, knowing that they must do better if they hope to avoid Margaret Thatcher's wrath. They are all well aware of her tough stance on security, and they know that they must do everything in their power to protect her.

"We will do better, Prime Minister," another minister says, trying to placate her. "We will not let you down again. Please believe us."

Margaret Thatcher looks at them, her eyes narrowed. "I hope so," she says, her voice cold and threatening. "I will not tolerate any further failures in this regard. You have been warned."
Volume II, The Battle for Britain
    Inside 10 Downing Street
The undead Margaret Thatcher stands in the grand hall of 10 Downing Street, staring at a portrait of John Major, one of her former political enemies who had succeeded her as Prime Minister and contributed to her political downfall. She raises a hand and points at the portrait, her eyes blazing with determination.

"You thought you could defeat me," she says, her voice low and menacing. "But you were wrong. I have returned, and I will not rest until I have taken my revenge."

She raises her hand again, and the portrait suddenly shatters, the pieces falling to the floor with a crash. The undead Thatcher smiles, satisfied.

"You will pay for your betrayal," she says, turning on her heel and storming out of the room.

As she walks through the halls of Downing Street, she plots her next move. She will use her knowledge and resources to undermine Major's reputation and credibility, spreading rumors and misinformation about him. She will use her undead powers to manipulate and deceive, sowing discord and division among his supporters.

But most importantly, she will make sure that Major knows she is coming for him. She will send him cryptic messages, letting him know that she is watching his every move. She will use her undead powers to haunt his dreams, tormenting him with visions of his own demise. And she will make it clear that he is no match for her undead power, that he is nothing more than a mere mortal cowering in fear before her.

    Back to the Story
After Margaret Thatcher rose from the grave to reclaim her place as the ruler of the United Kingdom, the country was plunged into darkness. The undead army that she had summoned roamed the streets, preying on the living and spreading terror wherever they went. The people lived in constant fear of being caught by Thatcher's undead minions, and many were driven to the brink of madness.

But there was one group of people who refused to be cowed by Thatcher's reign of terror. They were a small group of rebels, dedicated to overthrowing the undead dictator and restoring freedom to the people of the UK.

The rebels were led by a young woman named Elizabeth, who was determined to bring an end to Thatcher's reign. She was a skilled fighter and a natural leader, and she quickly gained the loyalty and respect of the rebels.

Together, Elizabeth and the rebels waged a fierce guerrilla war against Thatcher and her undead army. They struck from the shadows, sabotaging the undead's operations and freeing captured civilians whenever they could.

Despite their bravery and determination, the rebels were vastly outnumbered and outgunned. But they refused to give up, and they continued to fight on.

And then, one day, something miraculous happened. A group of survivors from a distant village arrived in London, bringing with them a weapon that could destroy Thatcher and her undead army once and for all.

With the help of the survivors, the rebels were finally able to launch a full-scale assault on Thatcher's stronghold. The battle was fierce and brutal, but in the end, the rebels emerged victorious. Thatcher and her undead army were defeated, and the people of the UK were free once more.

Elizabeth was hailed as a hero, and she was hailed as the new leader of the UK. Under her guidance, the country began to rebuild and heal from the horrors of Thatcher's reign. And as the people looked to the future, they knew that they would always be grateful to Elizabeth and the rebels who had fought to restore their freedom.
    Volume III, The Shocking Truth
As the people of the UK began to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of Margaret Thatcher's defeat, they faced many challenges. The country was in ruins, and there was much work to be done to restore it to its former glory.

Elizabeth, the leader of the rebels who had defeated Thatcher, was hailed as a hero and was elected to be the new Prime Minister of the UK. She was a wise and compassionate leader, and she worked tirelessly to bring the country back from the brink of collapse.

One of Elizabeth's first acts as Prime Minister was to establish a commission to investigate the events leading up to Thatcher's rise from the grave. She wanted to understand how it had happened, and to ensure that it never happened again.

The commission was made up of some of the finest minds in the country, and they spent years studying the evidence and interviewing witnesses. In the end, they were able to piece together a shocking story.

It turned out that Thatcher had not risen from the grave by herself. She had been aided by a group of scientists who were determined to bring her back to life, no matter the cost. They had been conducting secret experiments in the basement of a government building, using cutting-edge technology to try to reanimate her corpse.

When the scientists succeeded in bringing Thatcher back to life, they quickly realized that they had made a terrible mistake. Thatcher was not the same person she had been when she was alive. She was filled with an insatiable hunger for power, and she would stop at nothing to reclaim her place at the top of the political world.

The scientists knew that they had to stop Thatcher, but it was too late. She had already escaped, and she had taken control of the country.

When the commission presented its findings to Elizabeth, she was shocked and appalled. She vowed to bring the scientists to justice and to make sure that nothing like this ever happened again.

And so, the scientists were arrested and put on trial for their crimes. They were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison, and the people of the UK breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that they were finally safe from the horrors of Margaret Thatcher's undead reign.
    Epilogue: A Shrouded Legacy
    Several Years Prior
"Gentlemen, I think we have a real opportunity here," said Dr. Charles, a renowned scientist and leader of the group. "Margaret Thatcher was a powerful and influential leader in her lifetime, and by bringing her back to life, we could wield her influence and authority to further our own agendas."

Dr. Davis, one of Charles' colleagues, nodded in agreement. "I couldn't agree more. We could be hailed as geniuses and innovators, and we could use this fame to further our careers and gain more power and influence."

Dr. Smith, another member of the group, shook his head. "But is it ethical to bring someone back from the dead? What if something goes wrong? What if she doesn't want to be resurrected?"

Dr. Charles shrugged. "Ethics are a subjective matter, Smith. And as for Thatcher's desires, she's not exactly in a position to object. Besides, think of the possibilities. With Thatcher at our side, we could achieve anything we set our minds to."

Dr. Davis nodded. "I agree. We have the technology and the expertise. We just need to take the chance and see what we can accomplish. It's a risk, but the rewards could be enormous."

The group fell silent for a moment, considering the possibilities. Finally, Dr. Charles spoke up.

"Alright, let's do it. Let's bring Margaret Thatcher back to life."

The other scientists nodded in agreement, and the group set to work on the resurrection project, eager to see what they could accomplish.

    Present
As the years passed and the UK continued to rebuild and recover from the horrors of Margaret Thatcher's undead reign, Elizabeth remained a popular and respected leader. She worked tirelessly to improve the lives of her people, and she was hailed as a hero by many.

However, there were some who were not content to simply let the past be forgotten. They were determined to make sure that the truth about Thatcher's resurrection was known to all, and they began to speak out about the scientists who had brought her back to life.

The scientists, who were serving life sentences in prison, were terrified at the prospect of being publicly exposed. They knew that if the truth about their involvement in Thatcher's resurrection became known, they would be reviled by the public and their families would suffer.

So, they made a deal. They offered to reveal everything they knew about Thatcher's resurrection, in exchange for a chance to start over and live their lives in peace.

Elizabeth was hesitant at first, but she eventually agreed to the deal. She knew that the truth was important, and she hoped that by exposing the scientists' actions, she could help to prevent something like this from ever happening again.

And so, the scientists were released from prison and given new identities. They were relocated to a remote village in the countryside, where they lived out the rest of their lives in obscurity.

As for Thatcher, she remained a shadowy figure in the history of the UK. Many people knew of her undead reign, but few knew the truth about how it had come about. And so, the legacy of Margaret Thatcher's resurrection was shrouded in mystery and intrigue, a cautionary tale of the dangers of playing with forces beyond our understanding.

The writing in this was good, but I doubt it would end up being published

  • If I thought it could get published, I wouldn't be posting it here. :P

But it is quite incredible that an AI can come up with an entire story, complete with plot twists and character motivations (remember I never specified that an undead Margaret Thatcher would want to seize power again), then speculate on the motivations of a fictional character to guide development of additional bits. I could wrote a story with more detail that's worded better, but I'm not sure I could come up with those same sorts of broad points.

If nothing else, it might be a great tool for writers to consult with when building their own stories.

I was also able to have it generate a Werewolf game complete with theme, roles, and introduction post; a Spyfall location and roles; give me tips on how to improve activity on the discord; generate code for a few basic things; and offer advice on how to overcome social anxiety in voice chat. I was overall very impressed.

  • I've noticed that the responses it gives can be dry and lacking personality, and I think that's part of why it comes off as childish. I think it's probably intentional though, to prevent the issues that previous AIs had with ending up saying racist, sexist, offensive, etc. That's not a bad thing...but hopefully in the future you'll be able to have it produce more flair than you can now.

  • Messing around with ChatGPT is fun. I got it to write some basic trashy romance stories (set in New York and on a spaceship), and also give me a pitch/synopsis for Avatar: The Way of Water before I watched it (it correctly got the use of voiceover and the ocean setting, plus the return of certain villains, though that might just say something about the actual film's plot being a little formulaic lol).

I don't, romances normally stress me out actually, but for some reason ChatGPT is fine. Maybe not knowing what happens makes me anxious and having a hand in the story helps out with that.

  • @taulover: I would think having an actual romance would cause more stress than a romance story. :P
You're probably joking, but actually yes lol. I can actively affect my romantic relationship but when it comes to a romance story I can only sit and watch as things go terribly wrong.

  • @taulover: Maybe a little, but not entirely. I'm thinking of it the other way...whatever happens in the story, it's not happening to you. And romance, with all the rituals and mind games and having to know just what to do in what situation...well, it sounds pretty stressful to me.

Maybe I'm just lucky to be in a fairly healthy relationship. :P

  • @taulover: In fairness, I don't think I'd know a healthy relationship if it bit me in the ass, whether it's family, friends, or romance, lol. :))
