Nekojishi: A free game with furry characters!

  • This is without a doubt one of my favourite SFW games with furry characters, and even better it's free! You play as a student in Taiwan who has suddenly gained the ability to see gods and spirits, and they all happen to be be furry characters! You'll quickly learn out that there are several cute spirits that have designs on you, and they'll stay with you in your apartment until you decide which destiny and cat-god you want to follow. That means multiple endings, and yes, you have to go through them to get the best, most heartwarming ending...but it's all fun. <3

And the game has some, *ahem* eye candy, but nothing that's outright NSFW (that content was removed in an early version).

You can get the game for free from Steam or Itch.io. There's also a DLC, A Sunny Day that adds an afterstory for $8, but it has no impact on the main game (but is worth buying if you like it!).

Also wondering, has anyone else played this game?

  • My god, I agree. This is such a good game. The best ending is NEEDED. I can't believe anyone who says they are fine with the other endings haha. That Limited Edition patch sure does add some *ahem* fun scenes. What are your thoughts about Nekojishi: Lin & Partners? Sucks that there is no release date set in stone but it sure does seem to be an interesting sequel so far.

@A Kindle Of Kittens: I definitely agree! It's the only ending that feels complete, and I think of the other endings more as what might have been if things hadn't entirely worked out. lol, I know there used to be NSFW content in the game, but it was removed awhile back afaik...it was only in there to start with as a Kickstarter stretch goal, and I'll agree it didn't really mesh well with the rest of the game.

Lin & Partners seems like an awfully ambitious game...the easy path would've been to do another visual novel. The graphics that I've seen so far remind me a lot of My Time at Portia, and that a lot makes me want to like the game...plus the premise is intriguing. I just hope they haven't bit off more than they can chew with making an entire adventure RPG out of it.

  • @Wintermoot Yeah same here. It reaaally offset with the whole vibe of the game. Glad there's a patch for the others that enjoy it though. See, I'm glad you see the same with Lin & Partners. I really wished they would have just done another VN because I'm sure it would have gotten the same love and attention as the first one. With the way it seems now, I wouldn't be surprised if it got cancelled with how much they decided to take on with the project. The thing that really pushed me away on it was the lack of updates. That's already a telltale sign for me that it won't likely see the light of day. But here's hoping they prove me wrong and it turns out great haha

  • I did some research and it looks like they're involved in another game called Astatos, which looks like a furry card game, lol.

That is also not a good sign...even major studios rarely do multiple large projects at the same time, and what's worse is they've taken money to develop Lin & Partners through Kickstarter. I hope it works out, cause there's going to be a lot of angry backers if they don't. But on the plus side, they did put out an update last month.

  • Yeah I noticed that. It seems the Astatos seems to be doing well surprisingly. It looks like they are moving over to supporting that more than finishing up Lin & Partners. I'm sure the backers from Kickstarter are having a field day with that haha. And I agree, it is definitely not a good sign. I'm assuming they are going to wrap on Astatos before moving over to finishing up Lin & Partners. I would have expected at least the release first before involving themselves with Astatos. But let's see if they give out another update soon with a roadmap at least to keep people interested.

  • We'll just have to wait and see, and hope. :)

I would try the card game, but paying $15 for a card game is just...ehh. I have plenty of games I've never played before (though none of them are furry games), and it's just hard to justify paying that to myself.

  • Trust me, I wish it would have been free to play. I wouldn't mind playing the card game. It looks pretty well done. I was hoping it would have been at least on mobile through some variation. We sure need some more games on that market haha. I guess we'll just have to stick with Tokyo Afterschool Summoners and AnotherEidos of Dragon Vein R for right now.
