So I've been debating this for some time, but this last week just propelled me into feeling like this was the perfect time to announce that I'll be retiring from Nationstates as well as government positions (including ambassadorship)+ being an operator.

What this means is that I'll be stepping down from my current Jarlship, and won't be running for office anytime soon.  It also means I'll be stepping down as being an Operator in the Discord with no plans to jump back into it any time soon.

This doesn't mean I'll be leaving the forums or Discord anytime soon.  I'll still be chatting on the Discord, and I'll still contribute on the forums and occasionally host games.  Depending on how this month progresses though, I may take a short leave from the Discord just to take some personal time to myself, but I'm remaining cautiously optimistic that won't happen anytime soon.  However, I do think it's time I step away and retire from my positions, give a chance for new folks to jump in with fresh ideas and mindsets, and let my nation CTE since it's had a really good on/off 18 year run and I'm just overall done with NS and ready to move away from it.

Thank you all for the support I've gotten in my roles during my time here, it honestly made things 10x better, and I look forward to the new era for Culture especially since I trust it'll be in great hands.

I don’t think I have anything new to add when it comes to thanking you for what you’ve done for the region, because lord knows few can say they could match your energy and dedication to Wintreath. But even outside of Wintreath you manage to set the bar higher and higher, and more impressively hit it- in Wintreath, in Thalassia, in Jörmunr, and most importantly as a friend. You’re one of a kind, Michi, and I hope retirement treats you well (and god am I relieved this isn’t a full goodbye because I would be a mess). Much love, always <3

I've known about this for a few days now, and although I more than understand your reasons and I know you're still going to be here with us, I'm still a little sad about it. It's hard to imagine a Wintreath where you won't be an op or in the government, because it seems like you've been in one or the other (or more often both) for so long. Maybe for some reason I'd started assuming that you'd be stuck in a leadership role forever like I am.

You are truly an iconic person here, a pillar of our community, and more than that a great friend to me and most everybody around here. I'm glad that you will still be here with us in those capacities, and I will just hope all goes well and someday we can get you out of retirement.
