Wintreath Thane Elections
Nominate and Stand for Election!

Members of the Landsraad (all Citizens): In this topic you may stand or nominate someone else to stand for election for one of these thane positions in the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs, and Regional Affairs! Only Citizens can be nominated for or stand for elections. Once you have stood for election, you must create a campaign topic before Monday, December 6th that at a minimum provides the following information:

1) Why are you running for this position?
2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the last election? If not, why didn't you?
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election?
5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.

Once your campaign is posted, I or the Jarl over the position reserves the right to reject your candidacy based on your fit within the current Cabinet or regional security concerns (candidacies no longer explicitly require approval). Please be aware that serving on the Cabinet requires that you be on the Discord server under an account linked to your forum profile. If you're on the server and your name is not white, you're probably good to go. Candidates that don't meet this requirement at the end of nominations will be invalidated.

Ministry of Culture, led by Michi

Thane of Roleplay (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the roleplay community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the forums in the Roleplayers' Gathering;
• Encourage roleplay and facilitate its growth in the region;
• Serve as the Patriarch of the RP Guild;
• Work with the Council to manage the RP Guild and its roleplays by helping members start up and host roleplays, helping find a new host for a roleplay if the host goes inactive, and helping decide whether to reboot or archive inactive roleplays;
• Welcome new citizens who may interested in roleplay, introduce them to the RP Guild and the Roleplayers' Gathering, accept new members into the RP Guild, and help out beginners with roleplaying;
• Other duties determined by the RP Guild.

Thane of Gaming (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Gaming Lounge" forum;
• Facilitate the growth of the gaming community in the region;
• Promote playing non-forum multiplayer games together as a region (such as Minecraft, Civilization, Town of Salem, Paradox games, and MMOs);
• Welcome new citizens who may be interested in gaming and help them to join regional games;
• Must set up at least one regional game night per month during its term.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Ruguo

Thane of Foreign Releases (voted on by all Citizens)

• The Department of Foreign Releases is tasked with compiling, organizing, and releasing Wintreath's Monthly Foreign Dispatch, aiding in the improvement of activity within our Diplomatic Missions, and assist in the advertisement of regional events and activies abroad. Additionally, it is also tasked with reviewing Foreign Publications pursuant to Section 3 of Decree 006 for approval.

Thane of Embassies (voted on by all Citizens)

• The Department of Embassies is tasked with managing and maintaing our Diplomatic Officer and Mission Programme to other regions and organizations within NationStates.
• The Diplomatic Officer Programme, as ran under this ministry, is to rank each Diplomatic Officer with a general ranking, which the gaining of higher ranks includes privileges and other incentives for the performance of Ambassadorial duties. The exact specifics of this organization are left to the Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions.
• The Department of Embassies is also tasked with: scouting out and finding new and promising regions to reach out to and form relations with, aiding the planning and implementation of cross-regional events, and to extend help to regions that might desire aid from Wintreath in certain manners.

Ministry of Regional Affairs, led by Dawsinian

Thane of Regional Affairs (voted on by all Citizens)

• Duties as assigned by the Jarl of Regional Affairs

Thane of World Assembly Affairs (voted on by Citizens with a NationStates nation in Wintreath, candidates must have a NationStates nation in Wintreath)

• Determine votes on World Assembly proposals or determine systems to determine their vote
• Ensure that their NationStates nation has the highest number of endorsements possible, at least the highest number in the region.
• Represent Wintreath in communications regarding the World Assembly.

Voting will begin on Monday, December 6th.

I am running for Thane of Regional Affairs, so i can finally do my part to make this region a better place.

I have some free time on my hands so why not run for thane and help make Wintreath great again for the people i care about? I will do everything in my power to make Wintreath a little bit better for y'all.

I've been a Wintrean citizen for quite a while, and i've witnessed events both good and bad in my time here. I've seen the rise and fall of nations, i've seen Wintreath fall apart twice. So i've experience in the world of regional affairs, and i'm willing to donwhatever it takes to keep Wintreath neat and tidy.

Like i've stated i got a good bit of time on my hands to do thane-ing. If i don't, then i can make room.

No, but i am a member of Sakiria's Coalition, a group who's main goal is to keep WARPP's regional influence low, and true Wintrean loyalty at a high.

I nominate Stigya for Regional Affiars

I will stand for Thane of Regional Affairs.

1) I am running to maintain and improve communication and moderation across Wintreath communication channels.

2)  I aim to increase moderation in Wintreath, especially on the NS RMB in regards to spammers, S***posters, and role-play etiquette to try and attract more nations interested in role playing, as I've been made aware that bad RP is a big reason players leave the region. Furthermore If Svipjoth wins her campaign for Thane of Role-play under Ruguo, i will promote her to Co-director of WARPP (equal to myself) and assist with her and the rest of the Government in implementing WARPP as an official government entity and the effective replacement of the defunct Role-players guild, as it already basically has in all ways except officially.

3) As the creator of WARPP I have over a years experience in organizing both constructive conversation and role playing in Wintreath, as well as enforcing the WARPP codes of conduct.

4) My work has a set daily and weekly  second shift schedule, as well as breaks every 2 hours. Even if I'm not active while at work (Which I usually am anyways) I have set hours both before and after work hours plus the breaks. I also have insomnia and sleep maybe 5 hours a day. I should have plenty of time to handle any Thane related duties.

5) While I'm not part of any official government or region organizations. I am a founding member and the creator of the Wintreath Allied Regional Protection Pact (WARPP).

1. I stand for the Thane of Roleplay position in order to revitalize the RP Guild and the RP forums (now known as The Wonderful World of Wintreath).

2. As Thane of Roleplay, I would seek to incorporate the Wintreath Allied Regional Protective Pact as an official regional government body, having it replace the RP Guild in function. WARPP has heavily improved both the quantity and quality of roleplaying in Wintreath, and in many ways, has already replaced the RP Guild. If I were to be elected and this notion passed, The Stigyan Triumvirate and I will reform WARPP to be a co-directorate, with myself as codirector in order to reflect my new leadership position for roleplaying. This initiative will be measured according to WARPP/RP Guild membership, participation, number of active roleplay forms, and roleplay activity in the NS RMB. For such a merger, if I were to be elected, I want to collaborate with the council in order to ensure that the transition is smooth. I also wish to cooperate with the department of regional affairs to make roleplay etiquette more enforceable.

2a. Assuming my stand is accepted, this will be my first campaign ever. I have never held any governmental positions.

3. Ever since I have joined WARPP, I have worked to greatly increase our efficiency and our quality as an organization. This includes the google drive documentation center, the WARPP official map, the WARPP constitution, establishing an official framework for warning/sanctioning/declaring war against a nation, and many other improvements.

4. Since I have made the time to manage as military deputy director of WARPP, that same time will be utilized for this position. Furthermore, I am comfortable giving more time as needed to the position, plus utilize our leadership system in WARPP to delegate tasks (such as discord moderation, organizational statistics for roleplay purposes, etc).

5. I am involved with no other regional or organized government, unless WARPP is counted as one. In that case, I am affiliated with WARPP, serving as their military deputy director, scribe, and cartographer.

Because as the current Delegate, it's both my duty and joy to do so.

2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the last election? If not, why didn't you?
While I didn't get into doing full discussions, I did actually become much more involved with the RMB, and participation in the WA, while shaky with members who don't appreciate the enforced changes for WA nations, has still had some decent activity.

I'd like to continue that and possibly create those discussions when the subject warrants it, such as GA bills that actually affect nations more than the badges of SC stuff do.

On the plus, I did at the very least fulfill my promise of voting with the region as opposed to voting for myself.  For every WA resolution so far, my first factor has always been how the region itself leans, and my vote has followed that unless there were specific things about a resolution (such as some SC resolutions) that I had a bit more knowledge about in part due to being more active on the NS forums as well.

3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
Oh! This one is easy, I'm the current delegate.  I also have experience in other areas including foreign affairs which mainly pertains to gossip (whether hearing or circumventing bad gossip), being able to be personally impartial while keeping the region's best interests in mind, and of course creating new relations that are beneficial for the region.  But the most important experience is my current experience as your current delegate, and whether you feel that it's been good enough to warrent a second term (if someone else runs and this goes to a vote, I mean).

4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election?
I don't have a job currently and won't until probably at least February.  Trust me, I have plenty of time for both this and my Jarlship (which I've also broken down into a feasable workload).

Well idk but I was Foreign Releases for a while and I didn’t do it well because of stress and forgetting, both of which I have improved on.
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
Very persuasive and somewhat charming, good at starting conversation on important topics (ie: embassies) and experience in the regional government

4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election?
Search the world for growing embassies and reach out

1) Why are you running for this position? To test myself and maybe finally play among us.

It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
Play games, stimulate activity, have fun. Would like to finally be able to play among us, I feel I've had the game nearly a year now So that is my primary goal. A secondary goal is while I don't play many of the games given as examples in the first post, I think I'd be able to direct new players to the people who do.

3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
I don't think I've ever held a position like this, but I have been in NS for 16 years, done a fair amount of things. As for gaming, I have had a Super Nintendo, N64, GameCube. Gameboy, Gameboy color, gameboy advance foldy version [lol] a DS, A 2DS. A PlayStation one in the small version. Xbox 360, Xbox 1 [original and small], and as of 3 weeks ago, xbox series x. 5 computers that were all mine, a laptop, then a second laptop when the first stopped working right, a desktop for WoW and some other games when WoW didn't work out, but then mostly just for music and maybe also used to bend certain rules on certain sites to my advantage that I will not fully admit or deny. A third laptop when the second one stopped working right [different issue than the first ones fatal issue], a second desk top when the third laptop stopped working right to use as my main computer in my room as desktop 1 didn't fit on my desk lol, plus since the first desktop is an all in one and the screen is a little messed up in terms of black pixels not working right lol. The point being I've played a fair amount of games and since the xbox 360, a fair amount online, with people. yes I tend to babble.

4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election?
I don't have much of a life.

I am the King of the Kingdom of Scotland. I can handle that and this if elected, again no life.

Looks fine to me Darch, though you might want to put what you're running for (though the various console mentions and gaming references make it obviously Thane of Gaming).

And with this all we'd be missing is a Thane of Foreign Releases.
