The sixth annual Summersend Festival is almost upon us! This year's festival will officially run from August 21st-30th, and thanks to your votes will be based on the theme Wintreath National Park! The Cabinet is already planning on a lot of awesome stuff for the festival, but we would love to include anyone that wants to run a booth, activity, or event for the festival too! Just post what you would like to do. If you need help, someone from the Cabinet will work with you to get things going.

Last year, we had an amazing turnout of events! This year, I hope to work with all of you to make our selection even bigger!

When submitting requests, please indicate whether you will be running the event or if it is an event you would like to see put out by others. Both are valid requests, and gives us an idea of what would get the most activity.

If you are from another region and would like to have your own regional booth for games, please reach out to myself, Michi, or Wintermoot and we'll get you set up!

For those who don't know:
The Summersend Festival is our annual premier festival to celebrate the end of summer and the coming of winter, where our entire community comes together to make it a fun, exciting, and growing event. With a huge variety of games, booths, and events going on all at once, and the festival serving as a showcase for new games such as Mage Wars (2017), Spamwar (2018) and Clickwars (2019), Summersend is a great time to experience Wintrean culture at its finest whether you are a member of our community or a guest from elsewhere.

I won't volunteer for them for now but I really like a lot of these topics from past Summersend festivals and I hope people do them again (sharing pics of food/recipes, creating new cards for CAH, Summersend reacts to youtube videos, Wintreath skyscraper)
One thing I wanted to do for this summersend was create a topic in which we would introduce different species of animals (either from your nation states country) or just made up to add to the list of Wintreath's Wildlife and maybe create a description. There is a topic like this that is not very active but it looked very cool and I think it could be fun for the 2 weeks of summersend. It would fit well with the National Park theme like Yosemite or Yellowstone

I definitely plan to run Arena for Summersend.  The game is already up here on the Arena section of the forum games.

Aside from that I am also planning to host a game of Werewolf on Discord which is a rendition with modifications of an idea presented by Wintermoot and Evelynx.

I definitely will try to get some game things going during the festival and before it starts.

I'll host Spyfall of course.

Naturally, Silly Nature/Animal Hats will make an appearance.

I'll also be bringing up the Wintreath Lodge, a nice log cabin style tavern and grill.

Finally, Mount Wintreath and Volcano will be making an appearance.  Mount Wintreath is basically Skyscraper, but inside a mountain that is obscenely large.  Volcano is basically just people tossing things to sacrifice into a volcano to appease the gods to stop it from erupting.

I was originally planning on hosting Karaoke, (if anybody is willing to do so, go for it) but I came to the final conclusion of hosting Diplomacy, of which I volunteer to do so this summersend.

However, instead of hosting it on vDiplomacy like we normally do, the game will be hosted on a different Diplomacy website called Backstabbr, just to keep things fresh. Although, it does come at the price of being limited to only seven players.

Alternatively, we could stick to vDiplomacy, as it includes several variants that offer a larger player count.

I've decided I'll be organizing/running the Programmeringstävling. For those that don't know, it's a Programming Competition/Hackathon that was only held once, during December of 2015 (Programmeringstävling Noll). I've decided to revive it for interest for this Summersend because, why not? It's definitely more unique. The plan is run it the length of the festival (Most of that being dedicated to the programming, and then the rest dedicated to displaying the creations,, and voting and whatever else). There are some other rules, such as all code (minus libraries) and assetsmust be done during the competition, there will be a separate theme, and the code must be source available (at the very least) during the run of the competition.

(Also as a note, I will be offering some 'infrastructure' for participants who wish to use it to make things easier, such as Jenkins, gitea, somewhat basic hosting, and other things. This will be temporary and will be taken down a little after the competition.)
