What should Summersend 2020's theme be?

Hear ye, Hear ye! Lords, Ladies, Dinosaurs, Pancakes, come one and all to this lovely... uh... where are we again?

Does nobody know? Alright then, welcome to the Middle of Nowhere, soon to be home to the greastest festival of all time! Summersend 2020! But beofre we can get the ball rolling, we need to know just what we're building here. Maybe a little wild west? Land before time? A giant pot of stew? A haunted graveyard? Ah, but don't let me colour your ideas! That is for you to decide!

So let's get those nominations rolling! Like ATotM, you can nominate as many themes as you would like, and they will be put the a vote. However, you have a full week to nominate all your best ideas! Voting will run until Thursday, July 25th!

I promise to update the nominations list at least once every 24 hours.

I'll nominate Wintreath National Park, which would encompass outdoorsy-type stuff like camping, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, fishing, etc.

I'll nominate the Winterland Carnival, with various rides and games of chance.  The usual tavern can be turned into a food court, there can be a fortune teller, various booths, a "freak" show, and various other attractions.  Skyscraper can be have its name altered as if it was a tower or some type of ride/attraction, a mini Summersend Werewolf can have the "freak show" theme, and even Spyfall could use the theme somehow.

It'd also coincide with the Choose Your Own Wintventure theme that I want to introduce, and could coincide with Summersend.

I'll nominate Fantasy Winterland, which would align with the theme of more roleplay and games centered on mythical adventures and fantasy themes than real world events. It would include themes like Outer space roleplay, Lord of the Rings or Harry potter themes, magic, witches/wizards, mythology, and anything else you can think of

Am confused by these proposals with winter in the name, since this is a festival about the end of summer; winter is coming but not arrived yet.

Having just been on a road trip from July 1st until recently (thought I posted in the absence topic before I left but apparently not, just a couple of Discord posts though hopefully they weren't only in the Cabinet channel), I will support the National Park theme and I will also propose Fantastic Warm Places and Life as a theme just because it can be fantasy or just great places and it can include individual lifeforms (plants, animals, etc.).

Well, if there's one thing summer is known for, it's heat.
If there's another thing known for heat, it's fire.
And if there's anything I'm known for, it's my desire to use the cleansing powers of fire to free us from our ineffective government institutions.
With that in mind, I propose BURN IT DOWN as the Summersend 2020 theme!

We're presumably inviting other regions to come hang out at the festival so a joke like that wouldn't work very well, but a man can dream.
My actual suggestion is, instead, the Festival of Houses. A grand gala event where Wintreans the region over can look at the House they are a member of and say "hey, this is why we're relevant and cool and thus why you should join us", and where people who aren't a member of a House say 'well, fuck it, it's a House Party and I'm gonna go get trashed'.
Maybe that'll finally give the Houses the impetus they need to truly distinguish themselves, instead of just being a de facto social club.

Man, there's a lot of really great ideas to choose from this year. I think this is going to be the best theme selection that we've ever had for Summersend. Thanks to everyone that has pitched in an idea so far.

Actually, why not have fire related?

There is a festival called Burning Man which is insanely popular and involves burning a large wooden effigy, and there is a festival celebrated in WoW (as well as some other MMOs/games) around the hottest time of year known as the Fire Festival.

In fact, for Doc I'll also recommend Burning Man since it's a festival of celebrating creativity and self expression...and it just happens to involve burning something as part of the tradition.

I really like Doc's idea of Festival of Houses, so I've decided to vote for that.

Darn I broke that tie.  Now I should quickly change my vote to bring it back.
