    for the 40th Underhusen

    FRIENDS,

I write today asking for your vote in our region's 40th election to the Underhusen.

There are a lot of candidates for you to consider so I won't take up too much of your time.

I am primarily running in response to the animated discussion about our constitutional structure and the role of our legislature in recent weeks. On these issues I am sceptical of sweeping change — including the idea of an open assembly, which I will oppose if any bill implementing one comes to the floor during my term.

That said, on other issues I am less locked in to a particular view and I am excited by the prospect of working with Wintreans new and old on a variety of issues.

I hope that sounds okay to you, and that you'll consider lending me your vote. I'd love to answer any queries you have.

    Furthermore, Carthage must be destroyed.

    C

Out of curiousity, why the opposition to the notion of an Open Assembly?

Bold of you to assume I can read Latin, or indeed English.

Based on my experience in other regions I don't believe they're the answer to the issue of an inactive legislature. The lack of a formal timetable takes any sense of urgency out of proceedings, the lack of elections means that nobody has to really think through a platform to implement, and without the legitimacy of an election victory newcomers sometimes feel nervous to initiate new laws ahead of more established members of the community.

I feel that, if we hold off radical change and allow the incoming Thane of Integration to make progress on their pledges, most of the issues that have been raised on the Citizens' Platform over the last few weeks will be addressed.
