She would look up at all her progress, each plant was different each unique, she had worked hard on her crossbreed plants. She carefully dug them up, and put them in a pot to research more information about them like always. She would water her plants with water mixed with fertiliser, then carefully pull the weeds. She looked at her progress then would start writing her notes for awhile studying the new plants.
A young man in his late-thirties picks his way carefully through the gardens of Maplefalls. He looks on as an older lady checks on a cross-breed of her own, most likely a mix of peacebloom and silverleaf, due to the tall bush's white flowers, which you usually wouldn't find on the same plant. He steps around an aging man as he begins to plant some exotic plant from out of town. By the look of its sickly blue petals and the stench of death it gives off, it is most likely felweed. The younger man frowns as he considers the implications of a garden of felweed in Maplefalls, and he files that in his memory to come back to later. He approaches Ireland slowly, not wanting to disturb her work.
Finally, he clears his throat and says, "Miss Direlin? I am Damnad Kuel, and I seek your expertise in the field of botany. My compatriots and I have found a strange plant in the northern mountains, and we were perplexed as to what it could be. Can you help us identify it?"
He sets down a pot with a peculiar plant inside. The flowers seem white at first, but when the wind blows they begin to kaleidoscope through a variety of different colors, before finally settling back to white as the wind dies down.
Alexander can be seen wandering around in the streets of Evik picking things up from off the ground and other places. He already has eight cloaks made from rabbit skin on to obscure the fact that he has dragon knives on his person and that he is wearing some dragonskin. He continues to find more bundles of supplies but not surprisingly is starting to have trouble carrying them all once he has picked up his sixth bundle. Luckily, he has other ways of carrying these supplies since he keeps the wraps used for the bundles and just makes a bigger bundle with some treads attached from some of the stone and wood from some of the bundles. This bigger bundle eventually is made into a sled which he then places all of the supplies he is not carrying on to while covering them up with the remaining cloth and pelts from the creation of the sled.
What he is currently carrying are four dragon fang knives (stuffed at various points between the pelts along his arms), a dragon bone club (between his left leg and the first layer of rabbit), and a slingshot (looped around his right shoulder). He sees a dead rat on the ground and stoops to pick it up, placing it on the sled knowing he can cook it later either as a snack or to give to someone else. Finally he finds his last bundle of supplies in the city and collects it, then he moves the sled into an alleyway near the entrance to the city and takes it apart while leaving the bundles at different spots within the alleyway. Now that he is ready to exit the city, he picks up three bundles at a time and in multiple trips moves them to a spot outside the city gates where he knows the guards do not pay attention. Then after the bundles have all been moved outside, he gathers the supplies and reassembles the sled and then walks into the forest. Soon he has found two of his caches and uncovered them to collect the supplies but the sled is starting to buckle so he stops. He knows, he is going to need all of his supplies in order to succeed in this hunt but if the sled is already starting to buckle then how can he carry all of them? Eventually he decides to leave the sled behind and make multiple trips with some of the supplies in order to transport them all to the cache where he keeps his bow and arrows. Once he reaches the cache, he takes the time to set aside some wood to make a fire later while equipping the bow and quiver on his back. While he is setting aside the wood he chastises himself for forgetting to switch the pelts he is wearing in order to hide better and not carrying the necessary pelts to the cache and campsite. Eventually he manages to return to where the rest of the supplies are and finish the trips and so Alexander has gathered most of his supplies but noticing that dusk is approaching, he prepares the campfire and sets up a campsite and decides to finish gathering his caches later. He is setting up camp for more than one person knowing that the other hunter wanted to meet with him outside the city before they set off on the hunt.
With the camp prepared for two and some meat cooking at the fire and well bundled in a combination of wolf, deer, and bear pelt mixed with feathers; Alexander waits.
A man of indeterminate age begins to approach the campsite. In the fading light, it is difficult to pick out many details, but it seems that he is wearing a dark blue robe with stars woven in a silver thread. He carries a staff topped with an emerald orb that he uses as a walking stick, and leaned into it as the wind buffeted him. As he stepped closer to the firelight, he appears to be a clean-shaven man with ebon hair and green eyes. He sets his staff down as he sits by the fire and warms himself against the encroaching cold.
"Hello, Alexander. I am Damnad Kuel, and I am very excited to see a hunter of your prowess can go up against the might of magical power. However," at this he tilts his head to see the hunter a little better in the light, "You seem like a man with a few tricks up his sleeve. I can't wait to see what that will look like in the field."
You start in Margery, your hometown, and have found a tome detailing natural and unnatural disasters. Outside, you hear the sounds of a typical farming village, punctuated by the sounds of animals and the hawking of merchants. Somewhere in these pages should be an explanation of the earthquake that killed your wife, and a means to track down the perpetrator.
Rufus woke up from a feverish dream in a sweat. Occasionally, he would have these, hearing the screams of his big sister or the yelling of his father, "Run Rufus, run." Rufus got up off his bed, and thought of what could have been, what could hav been with his wife. This was interrupted by the crying of his son, he had once again tripped on one of his toys! After dressing up, he took Mashind to the local primary school and went off to his rundown shed, where he had all his notes, research that he had been collecting for years in hopes of tracking down the perpetrator. In the distance, he heard the sounds of stubborn goat being herded by his good friend and the calling to buy corn from the corn seller. He was getting increasingly frustrated, he had no leads in the last few months, and he was losing hope. His thinking was cut short by the dropping of tools in his shed. He looked to see why it fell and he saw footprints of an animal. He decided to follow it, cause why not! He followed it to a small cave, and continued inside, where he tripped on a large object. He looked closely and found a tome. Could it be! The Ancient book of topography, detailing the forms of disasters, natural and unnatural. He quickly took it and ran back to the shed, and for hours he carefully documented information concerning earthquakes. In these pages would have the information he had sought for years, but his adventure would have to wait till tomorrow, he needed to pick his son up. He took the book in a special bag and quickly ran to the school to take Mashind home.
A man approaches Rufus's house and knocks on the door. He seems to be in his late thirties, and he wears an opulent blue robe studded with stars woven with a silvery thread. Over the robe he wears a drab, brown traveler's cloak, and slung over one shoulder is a messenger bag stuffed to bursting with books. He carries a staff in his right hand, and uses it to knock on Rufus's door.
So there it is, folks! All of your posts were very good, and now I want you to respond to my post with a post of your own interacting with my character. Let's try to have this done by next Wednesday, July 15th.
