  • 1) Why are you running for this position?
I am running for this position because even though I spend more time on the forums, I do like playing non forum games along with the forum games.  I had been thinking about running for the last few thane terms and decided to run this time.  I am not so sure I will be able to spark much new activity but I can at least run some games and talk about others.
    2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
I plan to run multiple game sessions (hopefully not only Jackbox games) and possibly do some game streaming if I ever figure out how to do that.  I will also start up some gaming discussions on Discord and I might revive some forum topics.
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the September election? If not, why didn't you?
    3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
I was the Thane of Gaming a year ago.  I am pretty sure it was for one term.  I was also the Thane of Integration for one term (possibly a second).  I have run quite a few sessions of Jackbox games on Discord through Private Message screenshared video calls and more recently with some screenshared streaming on the Discord server.  Some of the streams have had as many as six players (including myself :P).  I am someone who likes playing games and while my experience with a lot of them is limited; I do like finding out information about games.
    4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in March?
I am not sure about this one.  I will try to devote some of the time that I am on the forums to also organizing the games but I can't guarantee I can make the time for this position even though part of it will be on a month long break from college.
    5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.
    Not anymore.

Vote for me if you want.  Even if someone else runs and wins, I will still see if I can run some games and start up some discussions about games anyway.

Here are some games that I have been playing recently: Dragon Age: Origins (recently started for the first time but I probably wouldn't be able to stream that since it is on a PS3 that is not connected to this computer), Bastion, and some Jackbox games.  Diablo 3 is a game I can play multiplayer but can't stream because that is on a different computer.  The (single and multiplayer) games on Steam that I can definitely stream though include the Jackbox games from Packs 1-4, Civ 5, Ark: Survival Evolved, Borderlands 2, and Realm of the Mad God.  I don't shy away from internet games too much either but I seem to have lost my login information for Town of Salem for some reason.

  • Welcome to the campaign! :)

Before AJ resigned the position, we had just started having some very preliminary discussions about what people might want to play during the weekly Citizens gatherings. Based on that and your personal intuition, what  one game do you think would be most successful in Wintreath? And how can we as a community best support that game?

  • I could definitely be more sure of this if I was more consistently active on the Discord but from what I have noticed it seems like there isn't really any one game that people would want to play during these Gatherings so it would probably be better to have a variety of games available to play at these times.  Town of Salem does seem to be a popular game from what I have noticed although most aren't available to play it at the same time.  When Grace of Gaia had their festival that we were invited to on their Discord server a few weeks ago; they were able to get many people interested in playing .io games (especially Narwhale.io).  The Cards against Humanity that is run by Zaphyr also seems to be popular from what I have noticed.  Minecraft also seems to be a very popular game which some people play a lot so that.

These seem like good games to encourage around the time of the gatherings.  I am sure there are plenty of others that would also be good to play at the time but these are the main ones I can think of at the moment.

Huh, didn't know AJ resigned the position.

  • Thanks for your thoughtful reply...I actually had never heard of Narwhale.io, but trying it out, it reminds me a lot of Agar.io. :)

Let me ask a slightly different question...if you could only invest your time and effort in one game besides Jackbox games, what do you believe would be the best game to try to have here?

  • Overall, I think the best games to try to organize sessions of would probably be Town of Salem and Minecraft since it seems like a lot of people have or play one or both of those games.  In terms of free games, some of the .io games are pretty good for organized sessions; especially ones with a loose timeframe because some of them have different servers to choose from.  Realm of the Mad God could be another fun one to try again.

But my short answer would be either Town of Salem or Minecraft.
