  • Wait, so there is a lynch for no voting rule in this game?

Didn't see it in the rules; does this count as a "standard rule" or something? (Which I would be somewhat surprised by since we've seen several games without it.)

I simply forgot to add it to the rules, but yeah, I am not a fan of no lynching. It slows the game down.

That said, with the way this game is going, it's going to come to an incredibly quick end if I implemented it.
I'm not asking about no lynching, I'm asking about lynches due to not voting. Your night end post suggested the existence of such a rule in this game where I didn't see one in the OP, so I'm asking for clarification on what the rule is specifically, if it exists.

  • Here's the way I see it.

In the first round, the first suspicious thing that happened was that North went out of his way to change his vote to Crushita. His reasoning that he was in the firing line is pretty flimsy because his actions ended up putting him more in the firing line than he was to start with. I don't think North would make that kind of mistake, so I'm led to believe he had a specific reasoning for going out of his way to change his vote to Crush, rather it was related to his role or intuition. We know in hindsight that he was a townie, not a wolf acting maliciously.

The next suspicious thing that happened was that Ruguo changed their vote to North in response, apparently out of some need to protect Crush...again, like North, casting attention to themselves and putting themselves in the firing line even further. I'm sure that Ruguo is aware that this isn't the sort of game that rewards altruism, and I tend to think it wasn't a mistake...especially when they say they'd do it again.

So why did North, a townie power role, go out of his way to target Crush; and Ruguo, an unknown alignment, go out of their way to protect him? Because Crush himself hasn't done anything suspicious, I'm going to vote Ruguo. The way I see it, if Ruguo is a wolf then Crush becomes even more suspicious. If not and it turns out to be two townies fighting over Crush, then we've avoided lynching Crush over the misguided actions of others.

  • I count 1 vote for Crush, 1 vote for LordArgon, and 2 for Ruguo.

Melehan's reasoning (and to a lesser extent, Moot's) seems solid to me, and more to the point I don't find myself particularly suspicious of Ruguo. At least, not enough to condemn them to certain death.
So I'll Vote: Crushita in the interests of tying it up.
Hey, as long as I'm not in the firing line, RNGesus seems to be pretty chill with me.

Ah, so what is the rule specifically? Is it two rounds of not voting, so that it will take effect this round? I assume that abstentions (such as Marzipan's) would also apply?

(It also sounds like you're considering not actually implementing it though, so is there actually a lynch penalty for not voting?)

Yeah, it seems I chose a very bad time to host this game, so a lot of people will be busy and might not be able to maintain the voting requirement, so I have decided not to implement it.

And what we have here is a vanity wagon.

I forgot people sometimes do this. I kinda feel like not allowing it, but on the other hand, I don't want to add too many rules after the fact.

That said, generally, I want the game to be rather aggressive and not too fence-sitty.

  • I understand, but if I tip the scales one way or the other and turns out the person getting lynched was town aligned, you can guess who's probably getting targeted next. This is more of a defensive move on my part despite the fact that I am in fact voting for myself.

I don’t really like the defend till death method deployed by Ruguo, because it’s sometimes deployed as a reverse trick, for instance if we lynch Crushita and he flips town, we generally assume Ruguo to be town when he’s potentially wolf.

    For now, vote: Ruguo

Just as a point of clarity, the Wolves can still kill normally, every night phase. They just also happen to have extra abilities for each inidividual.

  • There's also the fact that there are too many wolves around for a roleblocker to have successfully blocked any kills last night.

There are however three N1 roles that could have successfully protected the target last night: N1 Doctor, N1 Jailkeeper, and the second Jack of All Trades. Clearly, one of them was successful, and at least one of those roles is confirmed town (because, remember, the roles were assigned independent of alignment, so it's entirely possible for there to be a wolf JOAT).

It'll be interesting to see who claims to have protected whom later in the game, assuming any of the protective roles survive that long.

I'm also wondering if our N1 Watcher saw anything interesting last night. It will be interesting to look back on the votes later on, at least.

  • I will reveal that I am the Night 1 Watcher. I did watch Ruguo last night, but nobody visited them.

I'm not exactly sure what that says about anything, though. As a Watcher, I could only see who visited them but not if they visited somebody else. And either nobody targeted Ruguo or they were prevented from doing so. There are so many power roles, it's difficult to get a good picture with just one power. I suppose the only way to learn more would be for any other power roles from last night who have information relevant to also speak up for us to piece something together. :/ Do so with caution, though, as you don't want to paint a target on your back for the wolves. I personally don't think revealing myself puts me in any danger as I have a relatively weak power for one night only.

I still wonder why we have not heard from Crushita yet.
