This is where, over the course of the ensuing roleplay, we will add features to the star system with DSW and probably other things to the other nearby star systems in Wintreath and the near-border major powers, the Kl'aarg Ascendancy and the Kerdossian Union.

If you want to make suggestions of things to add to systems, or heck, even propose whole new systems that you want added, here is the place to make those suggestions!!

"An Intro to Standard Time"

It is quite an understatement to say that space, is big. In fact, it is so big that the Federation has yet to reach the outer edges of our spiral galaxy. Furthermore, we are unable to name every star much less visit every system in our own borders. Such a vast size will, of course, mean that time varies from place to place, and every planet has their own system of times and time zones due to their different rotational speeds.

Such reason has caused intergalactic nations like ours to set standardised time systems. Most nations, such as ours, has set their capital planet as a basis to form a standard system. That means that for the Wintrean Federation, the time that is standard for all of its citizens is the Wintreath Galactic Standard Time, or WGST. Most interstellar transport companies and their vessels would have their main clock set at this time. Another example of its usage is the entire Wintrean military, especially its fleets.

"Farthest Known Standard Time"

Many planets on the Wintrean frontier are either uninhabited or inhabited by primitives who have not yet developed far enough to set such standards. However, the farthest system from the capital that has any sort of temporal standard is the Maigar System. The Maigar System is held by a civilisation called the Mayyor who have requested to be a protectorate under the Federation and has its own system. It lies on the edge of Wintrean space, bordering a hot conflict zone between the civilisations of Kerdossia and the Kl'aarg, who have begun a fragile ceasefire of the Third Kerdossian-Kl'aarg War at the time of this writing.

The planet of Mayyor has a day consisting of around 29 Wintreath Hours, and its own calendar system, the Mayyoran Calendar. At this time, such a calendar would be in its 7045th year. Such a system is based off the beginning of the unification of the first major power in Mayyoran history......

SUBJECT: XCOM PROJECT

As established by secret agreement from leading heads of states and governments around the globe, various major nations on every continent have agreed to form a contingent plan in case of meeting hostile lifeforms that may pose a threat to our world and colonies. An emergency military group will be formed with major global funding that will have full legal, scientific, and military capability to perform its capabilities to "Survive. Adapt. Win." at any cost to ensure the survival of humanity. Upon sign of an imminent, hostile invasion by significantly more advanced extraterrestrials, each nation is required to initiate emergency plans immediately and it will be assumed such in any case that communication is lost.

Historian's Perspective

XCOM, or Extraterrestrial Combat Unit, was set up by the nation of Wintreath early in its Intergalactic History, set up by nations who were not quite united into one solitary state and still had its various border disputes. There was a great deal speculation about alien life and their nature, including a prevalent theory known as the "Dark Forest Theory." Of course, a nation that cares about its survival would take care to plan ahead, and somehow the various nations of the world set aside petty disputes to establish a contingency plans in case of dire emergency and the dangers of extinction. This was just one of many emergency plans set up by the Bureau of Strategic Emergency Command back in the late 1900's.

Later, this plan would be cemented by the Executive Committee of the National Security Council, coincidentally with a similar sounding abbreviation of EXCOMM, under the more unified Council of Nations as galactic exploration unified and superstates were established on the planet. Especially after the disappearance of the USS Wintreath, an early exploration attempt to test the boundaries of Wintrean capabilities.

The plan was later declared defunct after the official establishment of the Galactic Federation of Wintreath, or the Wintrean Federation as is commonly known, when realities had become far different and humanity was vastly spread across multiple planets, and new forms of sentient life became official citizens under the Federation. Under current military plans, there may be a new contingency plan in place, but we shall not know for a while, as it took a few hundred years for XCOM to be declassified.

The Gralend Times, several hundred years ago

SHOCK ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT OF GRALEND

Yesterday Imperial Prosecutor Gordon Calles announced that after a thorough investigation of the United Gralend Corporation charges were being brought up for the entire executive board for Production Of Illegal Robotics, Abetment of Murder, Conspiracy To Defraud The Government and Treason.

The Imperial Prosecutor's office released a statement after the announcement, stating "We have indisputable proof of the UGC's history of building assassination robots and even of running an assassination and murder for hire enterprise. Unfortunately, all parties currently believed to have been associated directly with this enterprise appear to have perished in the Innsmouth Bombing over 30 years ago. We can also prove, however, that the current board members willing took part in a conspiracy to with hold this information from not only the public but the government as well. Such action rises to the charges levied against all board members and we expect all members of the board shall be found guilty."

With these charges being levied against the entire executive the stock price of the UGC is in freefall with images of National Police officers raiding all UGC offices to acquire documents for the prosecution making rounds on social media. For now it seems unlikely that the UGC will survive this, especially after record losses over the past few years.


All board members of the UGC were found guilty of all charges and sentenced to death. All sentences were carried out with all members being hanged. The UGC was officially dissolved 3 months after the prosecution was announced. Documents relating to several programs, including the HKR program, were officially classified though some copies continue to make rounds among robotics enthusiasts.

THE ACARIAN CHRONICLES

THE UNITED ACARIAN EMPIRES SAYS GOODBYE - THE GREAT ACARIAN EXODUS

Today marks the last time that government and monarchy of our fair nation, the United Acarian Empires, grace the planet of Wintreath. The plan, called the Great Acarian Exodus, was cemented by Consul Justinian Valorian Artamonov and the Dual Monarchy nearly three decades ago, after a massive population explosion of Acaria. Though Consul Artamonov and Emperor Kosmas-Vladimir III is no longer with us, their plan has been planned and accomplished thouroughly. And now, it is time for the final voyage.

Of course, the plan has been organised with the help of the Wintrean Federation, that we hold great autonomy under. If the exodus is successful and contact is reinitiated, it is planned for Acaria to continue this partnership. For now, we go our separate ways. Most of the Acarian people have agreed to go on this voyage, to explore the vast unknown and to colonise new worlds and see new stars. All our great industry, scientists, and military are prepared, and there have been more than enough ark ships constructed for the amount of émigrés - approximately 900 million.

We do not know what our future is, but we are hopeful. We are all Acarians and we have accomplished much in history. It is time to continue that in one of the most ambitious projects ever devised. This has been the Acarian Chronicles, the official, public news source in the United Acarian Empires, and this is our last issue ever to be published on Wintreath. And so, that was the fate of the United Acarian Empires, or so we know. It took a while for the full, "evacuation" per se, to occur, but it is done. What is left is a landmass that could perhaps be called a continent in its own right, populated by those opting to be left behind, but more ghostly than before. Many buildings, homes, businesses, factories were abandoned. Some of those buildings, actually vanished as they were transformed to be able to fly through space. Many historical buildings, the palaces, castles, forts, museums, and monuments, were left behind.

The Acarians left, taking their scientific and industrial expertise. After all, they were a heavily mechanised nation. They created a vast array of robots, vehicles, and were a major component in the Federation's intergalactic capability. Of course, it did end up causing a small recession, but since the exodus took over a period of time and there was a great deal of planning involved, a depression and any terrible effects were mitigated.

The first of the convoy passed through the extent of our current interstellar borders seven years ago, with few issues. Four months ago, they passed out of Federation communications. We have no idea where they will plan to settle, but I say, light speed to them.

And if you expect to find any Acarian secrets, you won't. People have tried and checked, with no results thus far.

Late last night, at approximately 0030 hours, Fort Malgul, a maximum security prison, went dark. Communications were restored at 0142:36 after reinforcements appeared at the isolated facility. At 0200, it was officially confirmed that the war criminal, Owu Balgorni, had planned a successful escape attempt. No staff seemed to be harmed and no other convicts had escaped. For all intensive purposes, this was a solo operation.

All planetary and spatial forces have been alerted, including those in the Galactic Federation of Wintreath. It is imperative that the war criminal is returned as soon as possible before he disappears. Major search parties are underway at all ports of exit.

The news will be first be announced on state media at 0600, and mentioned to major, privately owned media at 0545 under a media ban until it is announced under state media.

It is reminded to all security personnel that Balgorni is a war criminal under the statute of the Cumiru Convention of 6677, and must be treated as such. The primary goal is the nonlethal capture of the criminal, but other arrangements may be necessary to prevent Balgorni's evasion from custody.
