There isn't one. You're not missing anything. It's something I picked up from other forums that they have to guess roles/who is in the game. Makes it more challenging. And more fun for me to watch the scum flounder in non existent roles.

It was a day of pointing fingers in my office, with not much of substance coming to light. Come the end of the day, I began to shoo them out of my office when Zaeed Massoni(DekuNut) pulled his gun, mostly out of frustration. Or craziness. The guy was a ticking time bomb anyway. Feeling threatened, the crew decided to give him over to C-sec.

With three rolls, and two voting for 1, it seems Deku was today's victim. Deku was Zaeed Massoni, The Veteran.

So...that was an infiltrator, right? Because we all know the real Zaeed's last name is Massani.
Jokes aside...well, I feel vindicated in my choice, since I reduced this clearly innocent (well...of being a Cerberus plant, anyway, Zaeed has a very long list of sins) person's chance of being killed.
RNGesus dictated he snuffed it, of course, but that was clearly Shepard's fault for not bothering to do Zaeed's loyalty mission.

I change my vote to Doc.

Considering the roles are hidden from everyone, I think an infiltrator is unlikely. It's going to be hard enough for the investigator to figure out which roles are crew vs. neutral vs. plant since for all we know, the investigator could just be given the name of the role without any explanation of what the role does or its alignment, with the expectation that they use ME canon to figure out if the role is a plant or not.

I've also been in games where one of the neutral win conditions is to get yourself lynched, so there's that.

Blind lynching and/or trusting in RNGeesus is looking like a very dangerous strategy...

I was actually just using 'infiltrator' and 'Cerberus plant' interchangeably, since...that sort of seems like the point, that Cerberus is taking and suborning people to infiltrate Shepard's inner circle.
I still think the theme would have been better suited with indoctrination (since that way it could LITERALLY BE ANYONE), but Spooky Scary Cerberus is a decent second choice.

But yeah if 'infiltrator' is an actual role y'all know it's Kasumi.

Only after Legion had been so grievously mistaken for a run-of-the-mill personal synthetic assistant.

It wasn't Legion's fault that organic stupidity resulted in unintentional Geth infiltration that necessitated such disambiguation.

My contacts were more than a little useless last night, bringing me only grainy footage of the last night's events. In one corridor, there was an attack by a grey blur of an assailant, but the attacked successfully fought them off.

In the cargo bay, two beings stared at each other with distaste before one pulled a shotgun and shot the human male in the gut. He died a slow, horrible death, unable to be saved. I smirked as The Illusive Man(Taulover) was removed from the ship the next morning.
