Elbbsas's Election Extravaganza!

  • Why Voting For Elbbsas Is A Monumentally Bad Idea

    1. I have zero qualifications.
Who would want someone in charge of literally anything to have zero experience, qualifications, or records in the field? Answer: nobody. Nobody in the history of anything would want someone who hasn't at least tempted in a job to immediately have that job.

    2. I do not follow what past Underhusen have done.
Seriously, I honestly don't know. My memory is one of my worst traits (which is why Katie's recaps are so wonderful) (if you're thinking of voting for me vote for her instead).

    3. While writing this, I had to look up how to spell "Underhusen."
Need I say more about how this is a disqualification? Heck, there was a time where I wrote "Wintreathians" instead of "Wintreans." And now I can't find the page which says how to correctly write it, so now I don't even know if I got the second one right.

    4. I am terrible at keeping my commitments.
Just take a look into the writing forum and you'll see proof of that. Unfinished WIPs, my NaNoWriMo barely lasted two weeks, I still haven't even started a recap page for Ruguo's escape room that I intended to write months ago. My activity recently has been restricted to Discord. Basically, I highly doubt I'd be able to keep to the standards of the Underhusen. (Compare this to say, Chanku, another person you should vote for instead of me).

    5. The procedures for the Underhusen usually go over my head.
A draft is made, somebody puts it up to vote on, the Underhusen votes yay/nay/abstay, and depending on the outcome it goes on to the Overhusen. Except, sometimes it doesn't? Or have there just been a string of nays recently?

    6. Given (2), (3), and (5), you can probably tell that most political things go over my head.
I think that one explained itself in its heading.

    7. In the next month, I hit an assessment nightmare.
And real life is always a priority. My studies this year involve a lot of reading and analysis and figuring out the right words to say. I come to Wintreath for a break, just like I retreat to writing for a break. That's the main reason why I've stayed as far away from Wintreath's politics as possible. If it starts feeling like a chore, I'll start shying from Wintreath even more than I already do. I don't want to do that.

    Why Am I Running?

    1. Apparently, I dropped my mind between a bookshelf of broken dreams and bubble gum, and it is now inaccessible. AKA, I lost it. I'm sure I'll find and dust it off again within the next week and regret what I'm typing right now.
    More seriously....

    2. My course is all about writing.
Writing this page up is good experience. I have to take into account my audience, what I want to get out of this piece of writing, format it so (as this is accessed via a screen) the left-leaning skimming will be attracted to the necessary points and that when people inevitably skim it they get the gist. Headings, colour, centering, font size, and so on. Practice is always a good thing.

    3. Building from (2), I adore writing
I tote the fact that I write stuff a lot. But to compare my presentation of myself to that of a character, I think I end up "telling" rather than "showing" that fact. I don't participate in politics, play-by-post, etc etc. I throw things into the Writing Halls, but really, how many people give a damn about the writing part of Wintreath? It always has brief periods of activity, and then it dies, like other bits of the forum. But back to the point -- I don't write politically-inclined stuff. It would be good practice to make myself have to read and follow all the Underhusen stuff. I'm not much of a writer if I ignore a branch of it, right?

    4. The Underhusen, right now, needs some seat warmers.
By that I mean, counting Gerrick and not counting me, only five other people are currently running for Underhusen. (The Underhusen? See, I'm rubbish at this). More people equals voting equals interest equals those Underhusen eventually voted in feel like they've achieved something with the honour that implies, and thus need to uphold the awe-inspiring wonder of the Underhusen... as opposed to going "yay winners by default" and that attitude seeping into the rest of their term.

Why Voting For Elbbsas Might Not Be That Bad, Maybe, Possibly

    1. Um.

    2. Well.

    3. I'm thoughtful, I guess?

    4. Yeah, let's build on that one for a second.
Overthinking things is my jam. I end up reading the outline ten times to make sure I've gotten the brief correct, and sure that slows my progress right the heck down, but in this case that's not an awful thing. How many times have grammar issues slipped through and forced a bill back to the draft? Sure, there's no guarantee I'll spot them. There never is. But since I doubt I'd be debating anything due to lack of sure footing, I can do my best to focus on phrasing.

    In Summary:

I am standing for practical reasons.
I don't think I'd be a suitable person to act in the Underhusen.
I do not have any big goals if I am elected nor do I think I'm the best option Wintreath has.
I like writing and would be a half-decent proofreader.
    Correction: quarter-decent.
I have a sense of humour.
I'm kinda bleh when it comes to keeping my focus, especially around politics.
    That's about it.

    Any questions?

  • So, I want to just point out that you're going about this all wrong. You made your case to me in the part where you didn't even think you were making a case. The Underhusen actually deals with very little politics, and the procedure isn't super complicated once you get used to it. Sometimes things go to the OH (if they are actual Wintreath-wide laws) and sometimes they don't (if they're UH procedural laws).

The Underhusen has... a problem, with unchecked grammar or wording issues. We've had to fail bills over it. You said you're good at picking out that stuff? That's wonderful! We could use that!

My point is that you aren't at all a bad candidate, and voting for you is not a bad idea.

Honest answer: I think I accidentally persuaded myself to be invested while writing this and the ice cream social. I do think I'm not a person who will be driving the debates or introducing any topics, but now... I kinda want to see if I can survive a term.

If you're elected, would you commit to participating in debates and votes through the entire term?
Yes to the voting, but I don't know if I'll have anything vital to say during the debates. But then, I don't know how to predict the future. I do promise to do my best.

With a campaign like that how could I not vote for you? You've got my support :]
    Ah! My byline! Noooooooo!
