[What should be the Regional Animal of Wintreath?]

What should be the Regional Animal of Wintreath?

With the introduction of the Symbols Act, it was brought up that we currently do not have a regional animal of Wintreath (like how the US has the Bald Eagle, UK has the Lion, New Zealand has the Kiwi, etc.). So before we pass a law stating what our regional animal is, I think we should all give our input as to what we agree it should be.

I don't want to set a specific time table as to how long nominations will be since this is something of (relative) import, but feel free to add nominations for what you think should be our regional animal and discuss. When discussions/nominations have started to die down, then we'll begin the vote.

I've already included in the current nominations those that were brought up in the Symbols Act discussion thread, and I also added a few of my own.

I nominate the Snowshoe hare! For camouflage it's fur turns brown during the summer and white during the winter. It's feet are long, allowing it to walk and hop on the snow without sinking into it. They don't hibernate either. These lil guys are adaptive and built to survive year-round! Just like Wintreath.

It is both a potato and not a potato.

I feel like people are just arbitrarily nominating animals they like for non-Wintreath reasons. We should definitely choose an animal that relates to Wintreath as much as is possible, and that animal will preferrably be winter themed.

The only one so far that I've seen that isn't necessarily winter/Wintreath-themed is the standard turkey, so I'm not sure if this is at the top of my concerns.

Well, honestly speaking, the reason I nominated the Turkey is because the Turkey reminds me of Wintreath. It looks funny but it is smart, capable and majestic. Much like Wintreath, there is more than meets the eye.

Any other possible nominations or discussion people want to bring up?

As was pointed out in the Symbols Act discussion, the Snow Leopard is Zaphyr's pet, as originally discussed here and shown on Zaphyr's website here. Then at one point on Discord we briefly discussed adopting an arctic fox or ermine in the future (when Imgur adopted a giraffe).

Those are the only two times I recall us ever delving into anything even close to a regional animal until now, which is probably why the issue is a bit arbitrary. Animals have just never been a big part of our culture, IC or OOC.
