  • I'm honestly a little hesitant to vote against Syraj.  His posts definitely do scream out just a bit, but I honestly believe that it could be a rookie mistake.  I mean, there's painting an accidental target on one's back with word choice, and then there's flashing neon lights as well and practically begging for people to notice, and normally the latter is because the person is newer to the game and just does things that accidentally draw more attention to themselves.

It's something I've seen at least once a game with someone who joins for the first time, and at least 75-80% of the time the person turned out to be just a villager.

Granted, I could be wrong, and he could be in that 20-25% that turns out to actually be more, and that more could be a Vampire.  But at the moment, I'm more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt and, again, chalk it up to a rookie mistake.

That being said, since I want to avoid building up to an inactivity Lynch (even though I know I'm fine if I didn't vote), I'll throw out the abligatory self-lynch since there's no rule against it.

    Vote: Lynch Pengu

  • There's not much to go on, but looking at everything so far I have to vote: taulover as the most suspicious to me right now. He started the vote against Syraj for making a vote for no apparent reason, then mentioned that his own vote is 'mostly just a random vote'. He also calls it an inactivity lynch when there's no reason for one this round as Doc pointed out. taulover is usually so meticulous that it seems very unlike him to miss something like that, as he says...it just seems particularly suspicious to me.

  • Explanation (I've been inactve last night so apoligies for not being earlier) If I vote for an inactive player that has already been voted for, and I can expect to be voted for (you know why),  I have a better chance of survival. (e.g if O got one vote, F. S got one of North, and I voted for nither of those then i could be lytched, but if I vote F. S I will suvive). This is my reasoning.

I kinda buy this reasoning. I'm inclined towards doing the same, but since, like Pengu, I'm reasonably certain Syraj just made a rookie mistake, I'm gonna tie things up for him by voting Lynch: Fortis Scriptor.

I'm now always suspicious of Doc and his long analytical posts making him look like an innocent now that I've played on the same team as him. :P
I take that as a compliment...even though we lost in the end. On the charitable assumption you're also not a vampire, I hope we both manage to win this time though!

I'm actually inclined partially against Aragonn, and, admittedly, to a lesser extent, Almonaster and Syraj (in the sense of like 40% and 30% suspicion, instead of the default 25% suspicion I'm treating everybody with due to the Vampire:Humans ratio).
    ...

Any particular reason you're against me, or are you just slinging mud in the hope that some will stick?

Also, a lot of wittering, but no vote. I vote Lynch Doc

My apologies, I've been quite busy this past week, including now still. (This is the first Z-Day out of the four I've been in that I've basically done nothing...) I skimmed the rules too quickly as a result.

That said, while I don't need to vote this round avoid inactivity lynch, I'd still want to vote to avoid an inactivity lynch next round in the event that I don't have time in the coming days. Additionally, I still don't see anyone who is particularly suspicious, meaning that there still does need to be a mostly random vote.

I don't know why people piled onto Syraj, since to me what makes sense is spreading out the vote to a tie and let RNG take care of things, but as it currently stands there is a tied vote and I wouldn't want to change that.

  • Tragedies have the tendency to bring out the absolute worst in humanity. Dracula knew this better than anyone. There were times when he wondered what might have become of his life had he decided to forgive and forget those who had wronged him, but suspected this was simply never truly an option for him.

He could see the same pattern present itself as it always did. The people of the town wanted someone to pay for the misfortune that had befallen them, and would be satisfied with any scapegoat they could find.

They had dared to storm his castle, as he suspected they might. They found it empty, of course. These sheep never did look for wolves amongst their own number. By day, he called himself Alucard, a doctor who had come from a strange land and found himself to be stranded here after his caravan with medical supplies had broken a wheel. It was just his misfortune that the local blacksmith had been the first victim of these bloodsucking fiends, so no one looked at him funny when he came into town with his caravan full of medicines and asked for a place to stay while he pondered what to do.

He heard a lot of different opinions about who was responsible. Some reckoned the world was ending, as these creatures were devils sent directly from Satan, and that all those who wished to enter the paradise of heaven needed to repent, for the time truly was upon us. Who was he to say they were wrong?

Some of the young men, brave from having had too much to drink, declared that Jonathan and Mina had to have been responsible. After all, the hag was seen leaving shortly before the devils descended. This line of thinking quickly caught on, and with amazing efficiency (and quite a bit of luck, he suspected) the townsfolk had soon captured her, beaten her brother, and chained her up to a pyre. The people cruelly cheered as she screamed, and soon enough, her pyre was lit.

He was surprised he could still feel anything remotely resembling emotions, but he felt an unexpected lurch in his stomach as he witnessed what transpired. This was exactly what had been done to his wife, for the supposed crime of witchcraft, a millennium ago. He had sworn to show them what true evil was.

He felt an urge to help her, but as soon as this feeling came to him, it left again. Soon, that darkest part of himself took over, and he could feel the jubilation as her screams of pain and anguish shot through the night. Finally, she knew the end was upon her, and brought up her blackened and burned hands in prayer. Her screaming stopped, and he could see the telltale mark of a holy vampire hunter glowing on her left hand. She seemed truly at peace, and even uttered a prayer for these worthless fools. The people now realised what they had done, but it was too late to do anything about it. The very next moment, she fell to her eternal sleep, an unwilling martyr. The town had killed one of the vampire hunters in their eagerness to have someone answer for this tragedy.

The doctor named Alucard gave the briefest of smiles as night descended once more on this superstitious village. Man feared the unknown, and called it a devil, but truly, he realised, none of these villagers were any less of a devil than he himself was.

Somewhere in the middle of the crowd, her brother Jonathan finally broke through, and as he saw what was left of his sister's body, he let out one long, lonely wail as he fell to his knees.

Syraj, a defender has been torched to death by an angry mob. On that cheery note, I announce the beginning of the next night phase. Power roles, please remember to send me your actions for the night.

  • Well, fuck. Now we're down a defender, which likely means another person's going to be drained dry tonight, unless the defender hits that 1/12 chance. I liked our odds a lot better when it was 2/13.
Mathematically, at this point I think we've pretty much lost, because 4 of the remaining 11 will be vampires, and if we fuck up even once now, it'll be 4/9 which is pretty much unbeatable as a bloc, whereas even if we hit it on the head, it'll be 3/9, which is still a hell of a voting bloc.
