I can set up our Connection Network Service and servers verry soon. I just need your approval and your opinion about it.
In my personal opinion it is much better to chat with all our members through a secure service rather than in IRC, where privacy is kinda not private

Also we can held meetings and chats and more Our minds can be very creative

The reason that we use IRC is that it's pretty much the NationStates standard for chatting. Almost all the large and relevant regions of the game use IRC, which allows for people to be in multiple regional channels at the same time.

I also haven't personally seen much demand for voicechat in general, and those that want to voicechat generally do so in private on Skype 1-on-1. I could be off-base there, but that's the sense I've gotten over my time on NS.

Lazarus recently started using IP.Chat in addition to their IRC channel...I think it came with the new forum they switched to. I'm not sure how successful that has been though. I'm personally dubious of using multiple services that do mostly the same thing.

Well in my personal opinion anybody can join our IRC channel with different names and sneek on us, having a service that passes each account through a control (member control) it might prevent espionage that might be going on our IRC channel

If we didn't want our chat to be publicly accessible, we wouldn't put a big link to it at the top of the page that says "Chat". We do have our channel set as +ps to comply with server rules in consideration of our occasionally adult content, but there's nothing sensitive in our public channel...which is why it's public.

Perhaps you are right although i keep my back ups for it.....

Others can post and express how they feel. I just wanted to point out why we use IRC the way that we do.

I totally respect your thoughts and your words Winter although i felt like it would be good to expand our experience on Communications also

Too complicated, and I'd never use it. I only ever use VoIP or voice chat software when I'm actually raiding in an MMORPG. Something I haven't done in a couple years, since my job keeps me occupied quite often.

I'm not around IRC as often as I should, but I think it works just fine. I'm not sure we need an additional communication application for chatting.
