1) Why are you running for this position?I like Orendis. We are not currently putting out Orendis. Nobody else seems to want to kick things back into action here, so it might as well be me.
2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane?The job description includes monthly updates. Unless you count the first two issues of the Orendi in December 2013 and January 2014 (and arguably a few later on when the Orendi releases early one month and late the next month), Wintreath has
literally never released foreign dispatches on a regular monthly basis. Ever.
That being said, I am planning for the following schedule for Orendis to be released during my potential term:
- Orendi XIV: End of March/Beginning of April (given the backlog of topics we can cover, this one should be relatively easier)
- Orendi XV: End of April/Beginning of May
- (If everything somehow goes completely ideally) Orendi XVI: End of May
Yes, that is ambitious. No, these optimistic plans will likely not happen, as delays, possible lack of interest from others, etc. pile on. But it's the goal that I'm setting, and the bar that I hope we can reach for.
One potential source of articles, which I think hasn't been explored much here in Wintreath, is RP news. Events in RPs are generally quite fun to read and write about. I also see this as a possible future partnership with the RP Guild to promote interest in the RP community. Articles would be explicitly IC, with links to their respective RPs being provided for anyone interested.
Additionally, I'm still highly interested in working on puzzles to release to our friends across NS, as Emoticonius did back in 2016.
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?Some people here have actual journalistic experience, I don't. I only have this (in chronological order):
- Wrote a few articles for old Aura Hyperia dispatches back in 2014
- Wrote literally one article for Orendi VIII in July 2015, about Gov's first citizenship revocation attempt, back when I didn't even really know who Gov was
- Lord of Propaganda in New Hyperion: helped organize and put out a foreign update in October 2015, a full year after the region was created. Proceeded to then never again work on a foreign dispatch
So yeah, definitely not the most qualified. But as I said, there's no other volunteers, so I might as well try.
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in June?http://wintreath.com/index.php?part=stats&from=12/01/2017&to=02/27/2018'Nuff said. :P
Joking aside, I think it's somewhat clear that for me, it's not finding the time
even if I am usually taking out valuable time from my sleep and studies to procrastinate on Wintreath, but rather the motivation. Given the short term limit causing time pressure, combined with a desire to at least reach for the ambitious plan that I've set, I think I can find the time to do this.
And if not, well... it's not like there would've been an Orendi anyway, with nobody in the position, eh? :D
