@Mateo406: I think the idea is usually used as a joke here, especially as part of the gay agenda. I don't think you can really change someone's sexuality, but someone can discover there's more to their sexuality than they thought. Since being straight is normal and expected by default in society, this discovery usually goes in the direction of being bi or gay.
I feel like a big part of the "converting str8 guys" and indeed, reparative therapy exist because a great deal of people still look at sexuality as a binary. Like when people talk about Gay guys who choose to change and go straight, well, they're either lying really well to themselves or they had some instance of interest in the opposite sex already. And I think the same goes for straight guys who "convert." A lot of the ones I've talked to say it wasn't so much becoming gay, as much as it was becoming okay with interest in the same sex within themselves.
