Well guys, I'm sorry to say but I'm officially putting Wild Men on ice. Instead, I decided to use that same setting and go back a few years to the Alliance War I mentioned in that RP. This is set during said war, as a decimated platoon of Canadian troops must trailblaze across a post-apocalyptic northern Ontario, past unfriendly natives and contingents of enemy scouts combing the woods for stragglers all while the coldest and snowiest winter in years rages on. So, any takers?

Alright, lads, I need some information before I can sign you up for service in the Army
    Name:
Appearance: (Keep it realistic, you have to either be a man or disguised as one, you'll be wearing a uniform and hair can't cover eyes)
Position in the platoon: (Medic, Engineer, Rifleman, etc. If you don't have any earthly idea just pick through Battlefield Classes :P)
    Personality/Biography:

I feel like this RP has the same problem that I had with Wild Men. A very cool concept, but simply too niche. However, I don't have anything constructive to add that would make it not this way, so take my words however you choose. I'll probably join this, though.

We have a relatively small group of role players here anyway, so I don't worry too much about broadcasting. I just wanted to make an RP in this setting with some faster pace, more easily defined premise, and stronger atmosphere.
Also, @Crushita I don't know if you want to join or not but I figured I'd mention you because it's set in Canada this time.

You only need look at some of the RPs going on in the gathering portal right now to get the gist of it. If you mean whether you need to join the RP Guild or not to participate you don't, that's just if you want to start your own. Any resident of Wintreath can join an RP. Since there appears to be enough people interested to start signups I'll be doing that soon enough and you can create a character if you'd like, though I might postpone putting up the IC thread until next week as that's when winter break begins for me and I assume plenty of other people in America and there'll be a big boost in activity when finals are done.

  • Name: Sgt. Jaime LeMay
Appearance: Tall, lean young man of 26 years, with short black hair, a well trimmed mustache, and piercing blue eyes.
Position in the platoon: Originally the second in command of the platoon (in Commonwealth armies this is the duty of a Sergeant), now the leader of the remnants of the platoon.
Personality/Biography: A well-tempered young man, Jaime's calmness under fire and clear thinking allowed him to quickly ascend to the highest rank an ensign can achieve as more and more NCOs were killed in the fighting. Serving under Lieutenant Émile Deveaux, LeMay proved to be an uncompromising XO who would advocate rigid discipline and precise planning. When Lieutenant Deveaux died during the retreat, LeMay organized the rest of the platoon in their march north. As it has become clear that the party would have to march a considerable distance before reaching the nearest friendly outpost, however, his reputation has grown more sour. Many of the men consider his rigidness and chauvinistic patriotism a burden in the deteriorating situation and see the march as possible suicide if the weather takes a worse turn; A far worse fate than what surrendering would have brought them.

I did mention a loophole for that. The societal values aren't very progressive so the army is only comprised of men (militias on the other hand have varying rules on membership, but they're on the home front) but I will allow a "Mulan" kind of deal where a woman disguises herself as a man to enter the army. However, this does come with some additional challenges. You are deliberately decieving your comrades, and when you're caught (I'm going to assume if you take this route you'll decide to be caught at some point otherwise you wouldn't have chosen it) you'll probably be subjected to anything between execution as a spy to simply being expelled from the army. So if you decide to be a woman I'd recommend having a plan on what you want to happen whenever it is that you're found out.
