It's become obvious to me that the issue of deciding on official chat platforms has made it more difficult to tie the community together and move the region forward...when the IRC was active, it was where most of the organizing was done and the close friendships were sparked, but as it has waned in popularity it has not been as active, even though the community in general has been.

Therefore, after discussing the matter within the Cabinet, we have decided that we will soon create a new official Discord server, while also maintaining the traditional IRC channel. This will give people a choice of what platform they want to use, while restoring an important part of our regional activity and our ability to quickly and personally organize for regional tasks and events when needed.
