  • ...you totally have though, it's just Justinian rebranding himself for the Game of Thrones theme for the avatars this month

Also...myargh. I guess I'm just a little like...why wouldn't everyone just play elves, they're being presented as Always The Best types. It's like actively choosing to be human in Arda; why would you when elves are just straight-up superior in every conceivable fashion? (Which, incidentally, is why I've always thought Elros was an idiot)
See I'm playing a human because that makes the most sense with the background of the character. I could care less about stats I'm all about backstory and character building

  • @Aethelia , you can still join if you want. It only gets crowded when people join but don't really participate. But you seem like the kinda RPer who gets into it, so I'd encourage you to join. :) There's plenty of ways to have your character join the group late.

And I chose a Nord so there'd be more variety and flavor. A bunch of Elves wouldn't be as fun and it helps to more easily differentiate the characters. Nothing's stopping you from being an Elf, though, Doc. :P

Oh, well you see the Old Gods are real and all, but they don't really help you all that much. You have to summon them and make it worth their time, and even then very few people are able to since, you know, the Elves captured and then constantly tried to kill them. It's more of a deal with the devil kind of thing.
So how do spells work? Is it a magic word type deal or a silent Skyrim magic situation?
Magicka is a big requirement, and you need to keep it replenished with potions. Very few people in the setting have a big pool of natural magicka, so you'll probably be glugging them alot. In addition, the Knights have ways of dispelling magic much like Templars in Dragon Age (and in both, it's mostly a trade secret). That's partially why Magisters make it a habit to keep them on their good side. They don't want to one guy who's able to kill them not liking them very much. Also, hand amputation is a pretty effective way of getting rid of magical ability. Spellcasting is pretty much impossible after that unless you're able to find a magitek prosthesis. It is silent though, so do with that what you will.

Actually there's only really an advantage to being an Elf here because it's set in their homeland. If you were in a human land it would be pretty great to be human. There's actually not that much difference in talent between humans and elves, it's just cultural differences and the fact that said cultures place value on different things.
I've been tempted to start a fantasy based RP here, though probably with the more traditional choice of dwarves rather than Nords who don't look like Skyrim Nords, except it seemed better if someone who has been here longer to start something like that. I haven't seen you post here before seeing this topic, but it looks like you know what you're doing. Was very tempted to join, but you have enough participants already, forum RPs can get crowded with too many people. Though my idea would have been more dungeon/action based, I think I'll be skimming your RP if not reading all of it since you have an interesting start so far.
We ain't nearly full up yet, Aethelia! Come on over and join this circus. You're twice as active as some of the bozos we've got playing already :P
    Spoiler
Also if people get too inactive I'll just kill off their characters

I mean I was kinda implying that anyway. Poor Hannikal probably can make potions aswell. His god isn't exactly useful though. No wonder he has such bad luck!
