I believe I'm enjoying... the people so far. They all seem nice and quite easy to get along with. And that's primarily what I'm here for: The people.

Hmm, I've been looking around a bit. But, it's a bit difficult finding something to just jump into. It seems like... a lot, haha. Hmm... any ideas as to where to start?

Well, there are the light RPs and the heavier ones represented in the Wonderful World of Wintreath and the Gathering Portal respectively. Among the more in depth stuff Empowered (superhero RP) is the newest, so it should be relatively easy to jump in. Wild Men of Wichita (Post-Apocalyptic RP after a second outbreak of the Spanish Flu in the early 1930s) and Space Expedition (basically Star Trek/Firefly) are both currently on hiatus. Galactic Nations (Exactly what it says on the tin) is active, but you'll have to get a spot on the map in addition to your application. I'm also working on rebooting an old fantasy setting of mine, so stay tuned for that in the near future!

I ask because I've found that, historically, a queen without a king is a few orders of magnitude more powerful than the alternative.

Alternatively, if you're not born a royal, marriage can be used to further your own status. It really depends on what your prior status to the marriage was. If you're marrying up, you become more powerful. But if you're already at the top, it is impossible to marry up. Ultimately at that point the main advantage of it becomes securing an alliance with a powerful neighbor and getting them to help you crush your enemies underneath the boots of your mighty armies, to such an extent that even the utterance of your name becomes a curse to the lowly peasants whose villages you and your allies have burned to the ground...
