Oki doki!  Who want's to take the mantle of mapmaker upon them?  I really suck at making maps and claims and stuff.  So much so that my claims are often very ambiguous... :/

Bump here and totally not because I'm going crazy not making a factbook right now.  I'm not sure how this whole map thing should progress because I can't really convert map 1 into any super-high def map that I can make claims on and stuff.  Especially because all I have to work with is MS Paint...

MS Paint is just the worst for this kind of thing....

Get Paint.NET. Simple install, easy to use, massive improvement over MS Paint. This includes layers, so you'll be able to edit borders without messing up back of the map. Or you could go with GIMP, but that's more complex and a bit harder to use.

Smaller-resolution maps are still usable; the old nation RPs made do with them too.

Is there any way I can get a non-geographic version of the map with Paint.NET?  It definitely is useful for drawing messups, but I'm not entirely sure how I could get the computer to recognise the map outline to create a political version...

You can try using the paint bucket. Play around with the tolerances and stuff. And if necessary also use the magic wand selection tool.

Same concept here; just paint-bucket it manually.

As for lines, you probably can do something with PhotoShop, but otherwise you may just have to trace it yourself...

I can give it a shot and do it over the weekend if you want

That took around 10-15 minutes. I'll get the colors changed tonight. Let me know if you have any specific color codes in mind or I'll just make it a tad lighter.

Also, I didn't change the size from your image. I think that just as a solid color made it look less pixelated and more high def.
