Wait, I thought smiting someone who had attacked on their last turn will work... 0-0

If you look at the ability description, it's if the target damaged another, not just attacked. Wintermoot missed both last round and this round, so smite did nothing.

Round 13

Frustrated that his past two attacks missed, Wintermoot switched to an offensive stance and again attacked Crushita. Though his target was only holding on by a sliver of health, the Sorcerer took no chances and brought his sword down as hard as he could on the Ranger. His sword met the base of Crushita's neck and chopped down, lodging itself halfway down his chest. The two adversaries' eyes met as Wintermoot had finally bested Crushita, showing pure hatred from the former and acceptance from the latter. The Sorcerer placed one foot on the Ranger's chest next to his sword and forcefully pushed him off the sword onto the ground. With one last breath, Crushita quietly spoke, "Praise Potato," before finally dying.

Watching as the number of combatants had again shrunk, Hydra cast a reflect spell on himself.

With only two enemies left, Rass again targeted the weaker Wintermoot. He switched to an offensive stance to make sure to do enough damage to end him, then he went in for the kill. Wintermoot, seeming as if he were finally at peace, closed his eyes and turned to the incoming attack. The Paladin briskly walked up to the Sorcerer and swung his sword at his neck, severing most of his head from his body. Wintermoot's head fell, hanging to the neck by a few muscles, then took the rest of the body down with him. On the ground, Wintemoot's face looked almost serene.

The Host broke the complete silence of the Arena with a quiet voice, "Two more of our heroes are now dead. The intense rivalry between Sorcerer Wintermoot and Ranger Crushita is over; they've paid for its end with their lives." After a long pause, the Host spoke louder, "And then there were two. One of our two remaining combatants -- the ferocious Paladin Rass, who has three kills racked up, or the cunning Wizard Hydra, who has seemingly been hiding in the background except to cast some of his tricky spells -- will be our victor. Good luck to you both."

Preparing himself for what was now a duel, Rass got on his knees and performed what might be his final Prayer. His gods answered and imbued in him increased strength and constitution. He then got up and switched to a defensive position.

Hydra switched to an offensive position and attacked Rass, but the Paladin's defensive stance and prayer buff caused him to take no damage.

Round 15

Rass switched back to an offensive stance and attacked Hydra. His increased strength given to him from the gods helped him, and he slashed a deep wound in Hydra's thigh, dealing 11 damage.

Sensing a Smite to finish him off, Hydra cast a dispel on Rass to temporarily prevent it.

Shouldn't the round be over by now?

Yeah, sorry. I'm at my mom's house this weekend since some relatives are visiting, and I didn't bring my laptop. I'll post the results when I get home this evening.

Round 16

Fairly certain he was about to die, the Wizard Hydra quickly switched to a defensive stance and cast a reflect spell on himself. If he was going to be killed by Paladin Rass, he was going to bring him down with him. Breathing deeply, he patiently waited for what his opponent would do next.

Though bruised and bloodied from the long battle so far, Paladin Rass was confident he would live to see tomorrow. The Wizard standing across from him was severely wounded and didn't have the gods on his side. The Paladin still felt the strength from his prayer in every refreshing breath he took. It was the will of the gods that he win this battle.

He took one step forward but then realized one thing: the Wizard had cast a reflect spell on himself. What could this mean for Rass? Could it be possible that by killing Hydra, he may in turn cause his own death?

He began to circle his opponent, trying to think of a way to get around this trick. Hydra turned to continue to face the moving Rass, meeting his gaze though unsure if he were being toyed with. In the end, Rass could think of nothing as he had no idea what could possibly happen in this situation. He finally stopped, took a deep breath, and looked up to the sky, basking in the warmth of the setting sun. He then understood how simple it was: he must put his fate in the gods' hands.

Quickly, Paladin Rass focused all of his attention on Hydra and ran towards him. The Wizard tried to anticipate the incoming attack and stayed light on his feet. Right before, he got within striking range, Rass leapt to the side and swung his sword. Hydra had noticed the shift in the Paladin's waist at the last second and so tried to spring the opposite way to stay out of reach. The sword barely met the Wizard's stomach and let out a gush of blood. Hydra looked somewhat surprised at his wound, then Rass immediately winced and clutched at his stomach as the same wound appeared on himself. Both combatants struggled to stay standing until the Wizard Hydra finally fell to the ground dead. Paladin Rass, seeing that he had survived the wound, stood up and let out a long sigh.

The crowd of the Arena screamed and jumped as the battle had finally ended. They began to chant, "RASS! RASS! RASS!" The Host, laughing in excitement, yelled out, "Paladin Rass has emerged victorious! Our mighty champion slayed the other combatants four times and lived to reap the rewards. Congratulations to Rass! And so ends the first battle of the Arena. See you next time at our team vs team battle!"
