  • First, Sir Robin, it is great to finally meet you.  I have heard wonderful things about you.  I appreciate the great questions that you have posed.

What legislation would you introduce into the Underhusen in the event that you get elected?

Well, the main piece of legislation that I would like to introduce is a bill that allows for regional banking and commerce in the forums.  This I think will be a big undertaking and a great way to make the region stronger.

What is your vision for the future of Wintreath?

My vision for the future is to make Wintreath a bigger global force In the NS world.  We are a great region and have a lot to offer as role models for the rest of the world.

Regional banking/commerce sounds quite interesting, so how would you implement it? Like, what are some general ideas on how it would work?

Also, just FYI, you don't need to be in the UH to introduce bills, though you would be able to help it by motioning and voting on it.

Well how that would work is the introduction of a Regional currency.  With the established regional currency, nations can offer goods and services for the region.  There is, also, an option in the forums to build a shop and for Nations to purchase and maintain chains stores, like gas stations and fast food restauants.  These businesses offer a certain amount of profit each month.

This, then creates a need for the region to have a banking system. I this system their is the option for a savings account with interest.    The biggest example of this is one I saw in the 10000 Island region. This seemed to be quite successful for them.

The finer points of this are still in the works and as more information becomes available, I would love to send you the proposal for it.

  • I believe that yes the OH should be able to introduce legislation as well and then once it has passed there, the UH should then take a vote on it.  This way it is a two way street between the two bodies of the legislative branch.
Not to come across as condescending, but you do realize that the UH and OH were explicitly designed as they were. The OH doesn't have the authority to create and pass laws, and then for those laws to move to the UH to make the legislative process quicker and easier. There is also the issue of traditional bicameral legislatures to fail within NationStates due to their complexity. Our system was designed to get around that issue entirely.

Would this be done through a law?

I am thinking of setting up fireside chats for the citizens to voice their opinions and to allow them to bring forward ideas they have for legislation.  I, also, would like to mail the citizens and get some one on one dialogue going with them.
I also just want to get to this really quick, however there is the fact that citizens already can do that within the Citizens Platform. However there is the issue which is that there are many Citizens that don't participate there, or within our political system for various reasons. However one of the reasons was the issue of being ignored or being ridiculed due to opposing what seemed to be the masses. How would you aim to solve this?

This needs to be one through the law as there needs to be Banking and Commerce Laws in place to make this successful.

I am hoping that initiating a ne on one conversation and being an active UH, this will make citizens more comfortable to speak easier and more freely.  I know as a new member in the region the silence can be intimidating for a lot of citizens.

Would that not run afoul of our fundamental laws though? Specifically Article VI, Section 5, which reads:
Quote from: Fundamental Laws, Article VI, Section 5
    5. The Winter Nomad and all subordinate administrative officials shall also be responsible for the maintenance, organization, security, and technological development of all official Wintreath properties. No government official shall be empowered to make decisions in any of these areas.
As such, I would believe that in order to enforce the laws it would require codifying actions that the Winter Nomad would be required to take in regards to organization of the system, technological development of the system, and maintain the system to fit within any new laws the Storting might enact. Is this not correct?

There is a way around having to work on the code and such.  The bank would have a President and bankers that can work on a spreadsheet that enables them to do their jobs without interfering with code.

Yes, but would that not mandate that the Winter Nomad grant those people administrative power within the system? This still runs afoul of Article IV, Section 5 of the Fundamental Laws (Under Organization), but would also potentially violate Article VI, Section 2 which reads as follows:
Quote from: Fundamental Laws, Article VI, Section 2
    2. The Winter Nomad shall have the sole authority to appoint subordinate administrative officials on any official Wintreath property, and invest in them any administrative powers as he or she believes is necessary.
They would have to be giving some form of administrative power over the system in order to do their job, and the law would have to require they have that power. Which would violate Article VI, Section 5 and potentially Section 2.

  • Greetings and welcome to the campaign.  First off, a fine hello to another 10KI member, as I hailed there before I made the move to Wintreath.  It's quite a different atmosphere here compared to there, I'm sure.

You mentioned introducing a regional currency.  At the moment we've actually started the building blocks for introducing the regional currency known as the Krone.  Right now we're just trying to figure out ways to implement it successfully so that it doesn't become a bloated system with little ways to sink it.

For a question, I'll ask one that Gov usually does in elections:  What makes you a better candidate than those currently running?  Why should I (not I specifically, but I as in the voter) vote for you?

Again, welcome to the elections, and I wish you luck.  It's great to see some new faces running.  :)

  • Hello Pengu,

Thank you for such a warm greeting.  I was aware of the interest that people had of implementing the use of the Krone and have been talking about this with other citizens.

Well, voting for me would be voting for some fresh, new, and fun ideas that I can help bring to the region.  Also, I am someone who is wanting to work for the citizens of Wintreath and I am very active in the region.
I think this kind of activity is what we need in this region.

Thank you for such a great question.  Hope to see you at the polls soon.
