Perhaps once a week, a vote of confidence goes up, measuring people's satisfaction with the chancellor? If he drops below 50% approval, serious discussion takes place and the Monarchy may debate stripping him of the position themselves, or asking the citizenry to intervene.

Ha, well there is that.

And once a week might be a little much since I doubt there will be that much he's doing, but something like that could work. Or the monarchy itself could just be a check.

But that's if the cabinet stays since I think I remember Wintermoot saying the cabinet might possibly be dissolved or restructured in the future.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought he was talking about how being on the cabinet causes people to feel like they have too much responsibility and so they stop being as active in other areas. So he's thinking about changing how all that works. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

I thought Wintermoot mostly meant that we need to shift from relying on the cabinet to having regular citizens do more things.

Huh, I don't think anyone in the cabinet ever heard that idea (unless they read that topic). But I like it quite a lot.

Culture, as a ministry, is almost all-encompassing and has been a challenge to run even with a Jarl and two Thanes. Having a bunch of ministers without any specific position sounds appealing, if they still care enough to contribute everywhere.

It could lead to problems since no one really knows exactly what it is they were promoted for, though.

In Aura Hyperia, all Imperial Councillors were supposed to act for any part of the region, regardless of their position/focus. If I remember correctly that did lead to some confusion when people were unsure of whether they could or could not do something.

I feel that the situation has stabilized to the point that major changes to the structure of the Cabinet aren't necessary...remember, at that time virtually the entire Cabinet had either gone inactive or expressed that they were burned out, and there weren't any clear choices to replace anyone. Lately the community has been great with taking on things for themselves.

When it comes to something like this, I'm of two minds...on one end, having an exclusive group that has a voice in the way things, like the Cabinet, could be considered a reward for service to the region. On the other hand, it could be thought of as a barrier for people that want to have a voice as soon as possible. I've come to the belief that unless there's a reason not to, such as classified/sensitive topics, discussions should be as open as possible so that everyone has the opportunity to weigh in.

But at the end of the day, decisions have to be made, and maybe the Cabinet plays a role there. As I said in the SotR Address, I haven't quite come to any conclusions on the makeup of the government and other structural issues yet.

So where are we with this?

With me still having not quite come to any conclusions.

I'm working on the Cabinet...I should have some news there soon, and after that I'll turn my focus to the legislature.
