Well, I'm not entirely sure how it would work. In one of the old forum rps I used to use the had a built in dice roller for actions and such. I don't know that we have any commands like that available on this forum. If not it would depend on how people would want to roll with it. In D&D a DM sets up a scenario and world in which the player characters advance a story. Actions that players take are determined by rolls of the dice, and influenced by certain stats and abilities that the characters have. I know one system that relies entirely on the use of a d20(20 sided die) that wouldn't be too hard to implement. It would more or less be a matter of finding someone to take the role of DM and then sorting out what kinds of stats and such to include. I have some ideas when it comes to that, but I'm better at ideas than implementation.
