Comparisons in the general way. Also the LGBT part i thought was very free.

Hey I  am Sherlon from Holland. I like to lead, rule, help, advice. If there is a militairy matter I would like to help too, maybe lead an army of my own someday. I have no idea what I am doing haha.

Heh, I sense the opportunity to have some splendid conversations in my mother-tongue here, even though Afrikaans and Dutch differs quite a bit by now. How can I refuse?

  There are two types of white South Africans, I believe.  Brits and Afrikaners.  There were a couple of wars fought between them, too.  The Boer Wars, anyone?  Laurentus knows a lot more than I do, though.  I probably know as much about the Boer Wars as an Aussie knows about the Civil War in America.

There are quite a few Germans too, but not enough to have their language qualify as an official language. And of course if you consider Portuguese people white, there are quite a few Portuguese too.

On top of that, there are quite a few people who come from other countries and then just don't ever leave because they've fallen in love with the place.

Regarding wars that have been fought here, the Afrikaner (also known as boer) actually invented the trench during one of the Boer Wars (I can't remember which one), so although the first World War is often called the Trench War, they were first used by us, in fact. We engaged in guerilla warfare with the British, because we just didn't have the numbers to go marching all over the place. We probably would have won too, but the Brits began taking our women and children, burning our farms and so forth, which forced us to surrender.

And no, the Dutch don't consider Afrikaners to be Dutch, nor do we Afrikaners consider ourselves Dutch. Culturally, we're about as far removed as one could get now, but our languages remain very similar.
