I'm curious on what @North thinks about these accusations against Chanku, mainly in the spirit of the moderator he has suggested. Could his Arbiter work to relief the assumptions/fears regarding Chanku's behavior? After all, these two aspects certainly seem like a great match.

Keen observation, Sapphiron. And that is not sarcasm. And of course I realise that even saying that could sound sarcastic.

I think Chanku has that passion you speak of, tatte. Maybe to much passion, which leads him to view dissent as a personal attack and react accordingly.

For the record, as far as I recall, I've almost always voted for Chanku in elections. Even if my only 2 dislikes are from him.

As for my proposed position, I certainly think that an Arbiter might help.

Do you mean against an Open Assembly?  And if you are, could you please give me a brief overview about why you're against them?  And, considering that the majority of the region is in favour of one (at least in some form) are you willing to listen and look at an OA with an open mind?

Nah my organs vote on what they should do...it leads to weird results though...like sometimes my brain pumps blood and my heart thinks and it just thinksladjflaksdasdfadfa...sorry the OA decided my brain should not think for a few moments

Although in all seriousness, my experiences with Open Assemblies have been less than stellar. Of the two regions I've been apart of the Open Assembly did very little, and in at least one it contributed to it's decline. 

Here it would do little, if anything it might harm the region. I've heard complaints that our current elections leave people sore, however the thing is, is that elections for other positions won't change a thing about it, if anything it will make it worse because you have one position that is desired but a lot of people are running for it. As opposed more positions with the same amount of people. It is also a rather large activity contributor. Further one of the main draws for me for this region is the Storting, in specifically the Underhusen. I do not think a change from our system would benefit us, and would probably end up harming us.

Further this vote on the Open Assembly shows why it might not work, because people wouldn't really care all that much. If anything the elections are a way to abstract away the politics of the region to the subset of people that are willing to deal with it.

If you're so set on keeping the current system, try to think of a way to fix it. Compromise is the only way things get done in a democracy.

I personally believe the current system probably the best that we have, although some work could be done to clarify certain things and probably separate the Judicial branch from the Legislative Branch, probably rewriting certain parts of Article I and Article III (Legislative and Judicial respectively). We might also want to lower the amount of minimum seats from four to three.

I have also proposed other systems, but they may not be all that good. However ultimately I believe that our system is probably the best at this time. To paraphrase Winston Churchill, Wintreath's system is the worst system of governance, except for all the others.

Not to mention Wintreath was kind of created because Wintermoot was sick of politics and all...

We're not a super serious politics region, I think.  If we were, I'd totally agree with Chanku that an OA would be a bad idea, but we're really very casual and easygoing.

I'm using this opportunity to speak out loud that I too view Wintreath as a heavily rp region. Despite of my currently strong drive to push politics forward.

Actually, it doesn't to me. For me an RP region is designed for story building, with a common setting. The community is merely a by-product of a region. People go there specifically for RP, not for politics.

For us, people sometimes come here specifically for politics, or because of the community, and sometimes it's both. However the community, instead of it being a byproduct, is actively being attempted to be held together.

Further Cynosure has a different set of people than Wintreath, Cynosure has different goals than Wintreath. Besides if we give the axe to the political side of our region, then our recruiting may take a hit, because people do come here for politics at times, albeit it may be a bit misguided. Hell the reason I joined this region was mainly for political reasons.

Also our RP side was, for the most part, dead until recently. Even then it could very easily die out again.
