  • ROBIN FOR UNDERHUSEN

Hello everyone!! I'm here to start my campaign (albeit a little late, as I've had loads of stuff to do IRL).  I'm here to campaign for the 14th Underhusen on basically the same platform as I have had for the 13th—to transform the Underhusen and such into a diverse, active legislative body that all citizens may participate in.

I think that the Underhusen was designed with a real-world society in mind, an assumption that fails to consider the ability of everyone in Wintreath to easily communicate with each other instantaneously and effectively no matter where we are on the planet.  Also, it doesn't make much sense for us to have an indirect democracy when our core active population is less than 50 people.  Because of this, I think that we could feasibly turn the Underhusen into some sort of open legislative body in which anyone in the community may contribute ideas to better our already awesome community and at the same time still advance in the ranks of the region.

Now you're probably (hopefully) asking: apart from an overhaul of the Underhusen itself, what would I like to accomplish this term?   Well, here's a list that I have made for your convenience!!

    • Make the guild system more permanent
I think that we could both expand the number of guilds in Wintreath, as Laurentus' idea has definitely revived very fun sections of the forums, and I would like to expand these systems.  A good first step would be to create some a couple additional guilds in the more abandoned parts of the forum, which would hopefully lead to more community involvement in those areas.  (I realise that this isn't within the power of the Underhusen, but we could still use soft power to help make the guilds permanent.)
    • Streamline IRC-Forum Communications
With the recent little problems that we've had on the IRC, which I don't know much about, because I usually just work on the forums and rarely visit the community chat, I didn't really know that there were problems until Laurentus' public denunciation of the system.  Because of this, I think that it might be a good idea to allow our fledgling court system to oversee any disputes with the IRC law, too.  (It's just a really early on idea now, I don't have too many of those specifics worked out.)  I also saw a suggestion by someone (apologies that I can't remember your name presently) that we could perhaps integrate the chat logs into our forum somewhere, and I think that'd be a splendid idea!!
    • Ensuring that the Underhusen Remains Active
As one of the most active people in the last Underhusen, I tried to facilitate conversations and keep us on our track to reform the Underhusen that term, but I think that the Laurentus Crisis really took community attention off Underhusen reform.  Now that he's back with us ( :) ), we can refocus our attention back on the reform of the Underhusen.
    • Listen to Community Imput
As always, I'm open to consider any concerns or ideas that any of the citizens of Wintreath have to better our open, friendly, curious, diverse and accepting community.  Just PM me your concerns or ask me to introduce legislation in the Underhusen, and I'll look it over!!  (And probably introduce it into the Underhusen too, if everything checks out and all. :) )

And as per my usual campaign platform, feel free to ask me any questions that you might have of me in this sub-forum.  Thank you all for your time, and have a good day!! :P

P.S.  It has come to my attention that North intends to make Pengu a Paragon if elected.  I wholeheartedly support this effort.   :D

  • The thing you need to understand about IRC is that things happen in real-time there. Asking the courts (such as they are) to oversee them simply won't work. My problem isn't so much with the actual decisions to ban people, it's with the laws the chat ops have neglected, thereby leading to people not quite being on an equal footing with the chat op team. This causes a very grey area to form, and in that grey, corruption is born. Not corruption of people, but corruption of purpose and in the effective communication between such a group and the people they oversee.

That being said, it is largely irrelevant, since the rules the chat op team operate under have been updated to give a much clearer picture of the powers the chat ops team holds. Their powers are broad and flexible to allow for on-the-fly actions while situations develop in real-time, and there's nothing wrong with that.

That being said, I do believe the courts CAN penalise someone based something that happened in the IRC. They just can't decide to take actions with regards to people's access to IRC. To give an example, a court may ban someone from the forums and the region based on bad behaviour displayed in the IRC, but they can't ban that same person from the IRC.
